One of the nicest pubs in the area
This was one of my regulars back in the 1980s when it was "The Duke of..." and has a huge makeover over the years. Nice large, outside area with covered cabanas, and an outside bar/burger shack. Great area for a drink in the warmer months.
It’s my 30th!
Fantastic staff in particular, mirka was wonderful, so friendly, kind and efficient. Thank you for a warm welcome and a great overall experience.

Spectacular service
Great food and drink. Our server, Finn, was exceptional. He was helpful, attentive and has a lifting character, which was both refreshing and positive to our night. Will be looking for him on our next visit, which couldn’t come sooner enough!
fun time
We had a really lovely time at the pub quiz here! The quiz is every Tuesday and we'll run, and we had drinks service to the table from Elena which was really handy during the table as we didn't have to go up to the bar and miss questions!
Amazing Sunday Roast
Great Sunday roast at The Dev! Had a lovely time, food came quick with great service. I had the chicken and the pork belly looked great too. Can’t wait for my next one :)
Sunday Roast with friends
We had an amazing Sunday roast today. The porchetta and crackling were delicious. What a lovely pub with great accomodation inside and an amazing garden. I will be back.

Disappointing roast but great service
Great service but the roast has gone down hill. Chicken was dry and needed more taste, cauliflower cheese has scaled down and no flavour to it. It’s a shame because this is the local roast we always favoured after but might have to try somewhere el
Quick one but worth it
dropped into the Dev for a quick one and was very surprised to see how much its changed, in a good way! only really came for a quick pint but i might have to come back for some food !!!
Best local pub in town
Had an awesome night here with my friends. From the staff to the food. Will now become my go to pub. The shack was one of the best burgers I've had in a while. And the staff made my night, getting my garden table in the sun to the table service,

Great place, Dom looked after my friend and I really well. What a lovely helpful young man. It was mostly young people there, but we definitely didn’t feel out of place.

We are very lucky to have the Devonshire as our local pub, it’s great for a quick pint or a longer lunch/dinner. Six of us had a long leisurely lunch - food is fairly standard pub grub - fish and chips, pie, sausages and mash - but it is well cook
Great Balham pub
I loved the atmosphere in this pub. We wanted bday and didn’t really know where to go in Balham. The staff are really sweet . Joseph M made it for us - so helpful and funny!

Service with a smile

Pitiful, poncy, discriminatory
I attended for new years eve. As soon as I arrived (on time) I was asked by two separate staff members within a space of 2 minutes when I wanted to have drinks come out. I stated to the first gentleman I would let him know within 5 minutes, but was h

My partner really enjoyed the Sunday roast and wanted more roast potatoes as a standard portion. 4 instead of, three. Cauliflower cheese was too watery. That should have been drained before serving to a customer. Vegan options was poor. A very Sweet
Lovely drop of Guinness.
Great food,great Guinness, lovely atmosphere. A pub that looks and feels like a pub. The only downside is that being so good,it does get very crowded.
Such a nice Sunday lunch at the Devonshire
Cozy and twinkly, such a great atmosphere and the food was delish. The roast beef was nice and rare. The sticky toffee pudding was perfection.
So understaffed it’s a joke
I understand the frustration and stress because the pub is so obviously understaffed but as the customer i shouldn’t be stressed out or spoken to in a rude manner. None of the employees care how they come across, making rude hand gestures, sighing
