TURK FATIH TUTAK Reviews
Well deserves 2 Michelin stars.
This is an excellent restaurant. From the decor to the food and service it excels. It would be so hard to choose our favourite dish as they were all fantastic but we will never forget 'from my mum' which the chef's mum used to cook. The experience really was the icing on the cake of a wonderful weekend we had in Istanbul. Thank you to everyone who makes this place possible.
What a wonderful evening!
The meal experience through all 'three acts' was fantastic, attention to detail, courtesy, wonderful staff, amazing food, clear descriptions of every course was brilliant - and there were a lot of courses. If you are lucky enough to manage to book a table here you will absolutely love it. Such a wonderful experience.
Incredible!
We had a truly extraordinary meal and evening at this magnificent restaurant. The night began perfectly with a warm, heartfelt greeting at the entrance (other starred restaurants could learn from them) and then got even better from there. The first dining room was sexy, romantic and lit by a fire table in the center. We were instantly enthralled. Then the drinks and courses began and it was decadent! Eventually we moved into the lighter dining room for the main courses. We all (2 couples) preferred the ambiance of the initial dining room as the lighter dining room was designed in a more Scandinavian aloof style. However that would be my sole critique of that beautiful night. The exceptional, welcoming service was on par with the best Michelin starred restaurants any of us had enjoyed anywhere in the world. And the food was truly outstanding in every conceivable way (from presentation to preparation). In fact I would argue that it should not only have 2 stars but all 3 that Michelin awards. It absolutely equaled every 3 star in which we’ve dined (French Laundry, Per Se, The In. At Little Washington, Covina Hermanos, etc) By the end of the night the staff was openly having fun with us and seemed comfortable engaging in the laughter that had begun to be contagious. This in and of itself sets Turk Fatih Tutak apart from the vast majority of Michelin starred restaurants. And the crowning achievement was the Kitchen Tour that finished the evening. I have never in my life seen a more beautiful, completely spotless kitchen in my entire life. It was jaw dropping! Every surface - floor, walls, counters, appliances, (ceiling!?!) were absolutely glistening!!! And the staff had a couple of lovely surprises in store. In short, if you have the opportunity (book weeks/months in advance!!) to join them for dinner you will be rewarded with one of the best meals of your life!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
I really don’t know where to start. This place is AMAZING. There must have been a cancellation because we were able to get a reservation a week ahead. So glad we were that lucky! It was so great. They have 3 stages. The 1st was the amuse bouche and pre dinner cocktail (which was delightful) in a very relaxing space. Next, you are taken into the dinning room with an open kitchen for the main courses and wine pairing. It was fun to watch everyone working. Finally, they take you for some dessert while you get a tour of the kitchen. Each course was delicious and just the right amount of food. You for sure left feeling full but not overly stuffed. EVERY SINGLE PERSON was so nice and welcoming. There is a reason why they have two stars. We have been to at least five 3 starred Michelin restaurants. A few weren’t as great of an experience (food and service) as TURK. They definitely deserve that third star!!! Thank you for the hospitality and we wish you the best of luck in the future!
Food Poisoning
We were very excited to go to the restaurant but after our group shared this meal, we all got horrible food poisoning. We did not all share any other meals besides this restaurant.
Worth a trip half-way around the world...
Never pass up an opportunity to dine at this restaurant. From the chauffeur to and from the restaurant through the entire staff and chef himself, the people are a delight and make you feel you are special. They make the experience amazing and we don't say that lightly. Of course there are no superlatives that describe the food. Everything was perfect and presentation beyond "creative." Thanks for making a special birthday even more so! Yes, we'll make reservations to travel half-way around the world again next year just to dine here.
Outstanding food and presentation
Fabulous experience. Food is outstanding and presentation is top notch. Celebrated my husband’s 50th birthday here and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Thank you so much guys for making our celebration so memorable! Highly recommend this place.
Perfect and worth it
Absolutely amazing food and great service. Really loved the surprises because it was my birthday and had an amazing time
"Disappointing experience at a supposed high-end restaurant."
Unfortunately, this restaurant did not meet my expectations. It is neither gluten nor allergen-friendly, likely because they simply cannot handle it and choose to ignore the issue. The waitstaff are inexperienced and the service quality is quite low. The atmosphere is mediocre at best. Comparing it to other two Michelin-starred restaurants globally, it certainly does not deserve its stars. Additionally, the champagne served here is the worst among the Michelin-starred establishments. Overall, this experience was a complete disappointment for me.
Far Far from Fine Dining
Overpriced, Loud, Dark, and unfortunately Chef Fatih Tutak is busy in another restaurant, not overseeing details and unable to guide his team to perfection. The restaurant takes pride in their cocktails and the bartenders shake them like percussion instruments. The atmosphere is more like a disco rather than fine dining. There is room for improvement when it comes to food. The lobster was al dente, Manti was too big to follow their suggestion (one bite), the tuna sauce was quite strange, and even the dessert which looked creative was tasteless. Service, in short, is not graceful and male only.
Istanbul's most spectacular meal
We visited as the culmination of our pre-Christmas trip to Istanbul, and what an amazing experience. From start to finish, we were treated to Turkish dishes reimagined in a modern manner - from the incredible manti to the reimagined mussels everything was perfectly executed an absolutely delicious. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, and the visit to the kitchens at the end of the meal was a lovely touch. Will definitely be returning.
The best of all..
There are 7 Michelin star restaurants in Istanbul and I had the pleasure of visiting all of them. With its excellent service, design and atmosphere Turk Fatih Tutak is the best of all, providing the ultimate dining experience. My wife and I had a wonderful time there and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is after delicious food and fine dining.
Creative and outstanding!
One of the best 5 sights in Istanbul is a restaurant: Turk Fatih Tutak! The best and freshest products of this country (Turkey) are put together to create dishes, that come close to being pieces of art! Dishes, that always and hugely please - the eye and more importantly - the palate - absolutely fascinating! Discrete, but highly attentive and very warm and pleasing service ! Fabulous wine card with plenty of excellent Turkish wines to discover!!
Impeccable all around
We saved this experience for our last night in Istanbul, and it was a fantastic culmination of our trip. Impeccable service. Excellent cocktails and wine pairing. Beautiful space. And the food - each course more incredible than the last. It's easy to feel the chef's passion with every bite, and the love for and homage to his mother made it even more special. Fabulous experience! Our kitchen tour made the evening feel even more special. Never stuffy, only special.
Definitely Istanbul's best!
From start to finish, this is a VERY special place to eat. And despite everything being perfectly considered, from their take on pickle juice to the tour of the kitchen which yielded a wonderful mini ice cream, it wasn't too "up itself" or snooty. The room is gorgeous, the staff are amazing, and the food itself was sensational. We'll be back!
An intentional, personalized culinary performance
As a foodie, I have been to many tasting menus and Michelin star restaurants. I do not say it lightly when I say that the food here was the best I have had. I’ll begin with service. While it doesn’t compare to the strict standards and perfection of a restaurant like Ever (in Chicago), where each footstep is seemingly accounted for, the service was on par with what I would expect a Michelin restaurant to be. I could see the servers communicating so that our plates were served and cleared simultaneously. All of our servers were *extremely* attentive and friendly, and did everything possible to make sure we got what we needed in terms of drinks, information, and even taxis. The amount that the server knows about the actual dishes depends, though I will say our party tends to be very curious and knowledgeable about haute cuisine: we’re big foodies! One server in particular matched our enthusiasm and passion for discussing the food, and that was lovely. I also want to point out that the personal purse table and the staff member awaiting at the bathroom door were very nice touches. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. It has a sort of modern, wood-based finish, with an on-display kitchen and dimly lit walls of wine and jarred vegetables. We also got to see on the kitchen, but that’s a surprise to explain after the food! If I had to describe the food succinctly, I would call it an ingenious harmonization of umami-centric flavors, served through intentional combinations of contrasting textures. While there was definitely a Turkish influence throughout the meal (re: the sausage, the emboldened manti, lamb, flaky pastry, Turkish delights, etc.), we didn’t feel like it was huge; many of the dishes could’ve been from anywhere, though this is most definitely not a criticism. We were told 10 courses, though we began with an amuse-bouche of rich, salty chicken soup. I can’t describe everything but the standout dishes were the turbot with pastrami sauce (so savory and the presentation was out of this world), the egg yolk with freeze dried ezine cheese (again, savory, umami, and a genius contrast of temperature), the fried cauliflower with yoghurt and caviar (cauliflower has never felt so smooth and caviar has never tasted so subtly delicious), and the 4-texture ice cream (speaks for itself, these are bites of science and art!). I also want to mention the mussels dolma, which is very Turkish, that was presented in meticulously handcrafted edible mussel shells. We were told they have a 20% yield, and it’s at this point you realize the passion and commitment that these chefs have to their art. The only dishes we felt didn’t blow us away were the pickle juice shots (tasted like V8), the manti, and the lamb (just your average), but not a SINGLE dish was failed. At this point, we had reached 11 courses (including the amuse-bouche), and we were invited to tour the kitchen. We got a complete, comprehensive tour and were explained the use of different stations and ingredients. Then, to our surprise, the pastry chef began to make desserts for us right in front of our eyes in the kitchen. He made 3 more: a DELIGHTFULLY sweet and buttery bite of almost kunefe-like phyllo and pistachio, elevated Turkish delights, and ice cream cones. We even got to choose our flavors (between nectarine and charcoal) and toppings for the ice cream cones. This was completely unexpected, and just made our experience feel so much more personal considering we got to converse privately with the pastry chef as he performed his art right before our eyes. We walked out of the kitchen so very full, just to see our table holding a plate of fresh fruit. If there’s one thing that Turk Fatih Tutak does, it’s leave you satisfied in mind, soul, spirit, body, and tongue. Thank you to the whole restaurant team, and to anyone considering, I cannot recommend enough.
Mind blown by this culinary experience!!!
Amazing experience! Hands down one of the best restaurants in the world. We enjoy visiting Michelin star restaurants (have gone to 60+ at this point) - TT is better than Per Se, Jean Georges and EMP! I’m actually surprised this is not a 3 star restaurant - the ingredients are high quality, cooking techniques are innovative, dishes are super creative, and service & ambiance are impeccable. Oh, be sure to try the delicious cocktails too - smooth and delicate. Highly recommend!!
Turk Fatih Tutak: A Shining Beacon for Istanbul
For six centuries the Ottoman Empire was an epicenter for trade and cultural exchanges between people coming from all four corners of the earth. It’s a lasting heritage that draws in and enamours travellers by the millions and there are a million of reasons to visit Istanbul-alone, especially when you love fine cuisine and exotic ingredients. I have a long-standing love for Turkish cuisine: it's on the surface modest and humble hiding a labour of love coupled with dexterous skill that is required for its fulfilment. My childhood's Sunday luncheons are peppered with divine Turkish dishes. It’s a cuisine culture that only recently began to have a restaurant-destination appeal. Turk Fatih Tutak is the destination. In 2022, the Michelin Guide gave Turkey's first 2-Michelin Star to the Chef Fatih Tutak, giving my family and I very good reason to visit the capital this Fall for a long weekend. Turk Fatih Tutak is located inside an office building, which looks a little cold and corporate on the outside but this impression of the setting quickly disappears once you step inside and are warmly greeted by the Maitre D’ and staff who lead you into a cozy large dining space with a high industrial ceiling, an open kitchen and a bar that spans the width of the room. The restaurant’s welcoming ambience and it’s use of the well-lit fermentation jars as shelf display excited our appetites. We all were looking forward to discovering Chef Fatih Tutak’s surprise menu. The eight-course menu was a harmonious marriage of land and sea ingredients with notes of smoke and ferment to tickle the palate. The portions were generous: never excessive as can often be the case with multi-dish menus. There were, in my mind, many star-studded dishes that shone brightly but they were all a part of Chef Fatih Tutak’s constellation. It was a gloriously well-balanced menu that delighted us all. The overall experience and service were perfect: from the sommelier’s recommendations of lovely Turkish wines with the delicious dishes to the surprise invitation to visit the kitchen at the very end of our meal and meet the talented brigade of chefs that made this night magical. A sweet ending to a perfect evening. Turk Fatih Tutak is the destination that I highly recommend with no reservations.
Bravo!!!
I’ve felt the full power of the high-quality gastronomy experience in this restaurant. Every piece was unique and delicious. Totally loved the atmosphere and the experience. Bravo
2 Star Price, 1 Star Food, 0 Star Service
The decor of TFT is very minimalist and beautiful. Everything is customized, from plates, to knives to the scents and soap in the bathroom. The atmosphere is also very casual and not formal at all, which is a comfortable dining experience. The food: 7/10 It is generally speaking quite good and international. 3 of the 7 dishes were Japanese and Asian inspired, reflecting the Chef’s experience and training in Asia. There were some modern interpretations of Turkish dishes, such as menemen. This was quite innovative. Taste and execution wise, dishes were not 100% refined yet and can be improved. For example, some portions are bigger than others and the seasoning on each portion was not 100% even. Desserts were quite outstanding, and the dinner ended with a tour of the kitchen. I think give the Chef a few more years and he will get there. The service: 5/10 The expectation for a 2 star restaurant would be “worth a detour”, with service to match. Perhaps due to the language issue or culture, but the service was not good. We did not feel any warmth or smiles in the service. This was the big negative of the meal because service and hospitality must be joyful. And it was not for us. Other smaller issues included staff putting down plates onto the tables or opening bottles of champagne very loudly. Front of house needs serious work. The service staff was most definitely not 100% in sync with each other. For example, we were asked 2 times what kind of water we would like. Staff were also confused with each other more than once on who was to give the explanation. The price: 4500 TL without drinks (at the point of writing. Do note that the price changes often!) At this price, I do not think we would recommend this to others. If I were comparing this to other 2 Michelin Star experiences across Europe and Asia, this would be a disappointment. Conclusion: Food will be refined as Chef comes into his own. Kitchen is clearly well run. Front of house needs serious work to compete with at the international level. I would go so far to say front of house leadership needs to be changed for this chef to be truly successful.
unforgettable experience
Only 1 word, perfect. Exceptional flavours, good explanation of every dish. Excellent service in a nice environment.Only local products are used.
Deserves its 2 stars with a warm welcome and unique experience
We went before the Michelin awards were made so a reservation was still possible. The unique experience exceeded expectations. A comfortable room, warm service and delightful takes on Turkish dishes. Sometime Michelin restaurants can feel like they are trying too hard or operating on a formula. This one does not. Worth the long journey to the suburbs. The back of house tour of the kitchen is a lovely, unique touch
Most expensive, Most Michelin but not Most taste
TURK is the first Michelin 2 star restaurant in Turkey/Istanbul located on the ground floor of Now Bomonti Office building. The atmosphere is serene and elegant with high ceiling and light colour wooden decor. The staff number is quite a lot in the kitchen. At least 2-3 months before you have to book and pay a pre-payment. There’ s just a tasting menu, mid-size wine and coctail list. You can have local food with special technics (mussels dolma and umami birtday cake make diffrence) It was pleasant to have a kitchen tour in the end of the meal with coffee liquer, ice cream and Turkish delight but other than you don’ t feel any special. I recommend; Chicken soup Mussels dolma Blue crab menemen Umami birtday cake Pistachio yufka
Delicious experience
Absolutely delicious restaurant, the staff was very professional and they made the experience worth worth it, the place is small so reservations is a must, the food was incredible however one menu for each can be too much. Thank you to the team.
Impeccable service and amazing food
We recently dined at Turk FT after they were awarded 2 Michelin stars⭐️⭐️ and deservedly so. From the moment we arrived (wet and late due rain in heavy traffic) we were greeted warmly by the wonderful staff. The service was impeccable and the food in their tasting menu was thoughtfully curated to deliver a truly amazing experience. The pacing of the service was perfect. We did not feel rushed. The wine suggestions were spot on. The waiters and staff were extremely attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and jovial. We had so much fun!! After the meal we were invited into the kitchen for a tour. We highly recommend this restaurant for the food and the whole experience. If you have a choice between Mikla ⭐️and Turk FT⭐️⭐️….go to here. There is no comparison.
