The Pine Collingwood Reviews
Michelin star worthy in one of the three most popular resort areas in Canada,
My wife and I reside in Gold Canyon Arizona, but summer up here in Collingwood/Blue Mountain Ontario. We went to Tremont Cafe for dinner last night with our daughters - one of whom resides in Bermuda and the other who travels Europe extensively, Our Bermuda daughter was on her way back from travel to Boston, London England, and Edinburgh Scotland. Among the starters we had were beef carpaccio and pork belly. The sauces were other-worldly. Our mains were Chicken Supreme and Beef Tenderloin. Mouth-watering. And the accompanying French fries were embedded in a dreamy casserole. Servers included Billie - one of the owners - and Ethan. Both attentive, full of humor, and never stodgy. This is an intimate restaurant and bar with high-end European-style decor and photos. I myself have travelled to 22 countries and will tell anyone who cares to listen that Tremont Cafe is world class and absolutely Michelin star worthy.
Amazing food and service.
We came here for my brother in-laws birthday. The food was delicious and artistically plated. The service was exceptional. We did not opt in for the wine pairing but instead ordered our own selection of whistle wetters. There are enough parking in their private lot and I love how the restaurant is a repurposed auto mechanic garage.
Best Restaurant in Canada!
There was a really warm and helpful welcome of Imad and his fantastic friendly crew! Food is very very nicely presented and faboulous. The ambiance is very nice with Background Music - and not so loud as in many Canadian Restaurants. I was there on a quiet Sunday evening and returned on a busy Wednesday. But the Service was again excellent and quick. I will come again when I will visiting Blue Mountains Area. Thank you Imad and crew! Peter Burger, Switzerland
Great spot to check out!
Fantastic spot! Ambience is great. Bar set up is great. Food is super tasty and service is good. I think more variety of red wine by the glass is my only negative. Vibrant and fun, full of energy. It's a great spot to check out! Eclectic menu that was delicious to taste!
Fabulous Tremont
Every time we come to Collingwood, we have dinner at Tremont Cafe. The food and service are outstanding. I should try other things on the menu, but the steak tartare and duck confit are my favourite dishes. My husband had the tuna tartare and halibut dish and said both were delicious. We had the pleasure of having Alishia as our server. She was our server the last time we were there two years ago, and a credit to the team for sure. Tremont is an intimate restaurant that pays attention to every detail. We will continue to return!
Chic layout and fun vibe for all ages
The service, food and drink were VERY good. I like the farm fresh menu and the flavors were tasty. I was there with friends and have been there before. Will definitely go again soon!
Simply EXCEPTIONAL!
Simply EXCEPTIONAL! Just had a dinner at the TREMONT first time. We were greeted and served with care and impressive attentive service. We made a reservation for the dining hall. However, the booth was available and offered to us. The ambiance of the place (the choice of background music played was smartly done!) added to our wonderful experience. The meals and desserts ordered were simply perfect! The presentation was very classy. The restaurant also has a small hall for some private functions (about 30 people) which we will definitely use in the future!
Expertly prepared food in trendy new Collingwood restaurant
I loved the decor which is reminiscent of a Parisian bistro. We were celebrating my partner’s milestone birthday and appreciated a complimentary glass of Cremant d’Alsace to start. My watermelon halloumi appetizer was refreshing and had an interesting combination of flavours. My partner enjoyed his salad starter, and thought his halibut main was perfectly prepared. I really enjoyed my duck confit main course. We were pleased to receive a chocolate terrine with 3 types of caramel with a birthday candle on top - which was a decadent dessert to share. The server was attentive and personable. My only less than outstanding comment was about the tables that are really packed in and there was a high noise level as the restaurant was buzzing. We had a middle row table with two narrow aisles on either side. My partner’s water glass was almost sideswiped a couple of times by the servers whizzing by. I would return for the expertly prepared food, but would request a banquette seat which isn’t in the direct path of the kitchen. As a Collingwood local , I would probably avoid a Saturday in future.
Simply Lovely
Ambience was nice in this cosy restaurant in downtown Collingwood. The restaurant is in the Dorchester Hotel on Hurontario St. (not on Pine Street where there is another place with Tremont Cafe on the windows, perhaps an old location?). Our server was Rob. Very friendly and super attentive. Food was amazing. My wife had steak frites while I enjoyed the duck confit. Apps (pork belly, falafel) were 10 out of 10 as well. Desserts (sticky toffee pudding, peanut butter chocolate) were good but just that good. Least favourite part of the meal. Reservations are a must. 100% we would go back.
Best dinner in Georgian Bay
Phenomenal restaurant. The ambiance service and food speak Michelin star! We came two nights in a row because we loved it, the yellowfin tuna was so delicious wrapped with tahini and Zaatar. Loved the salads, the chicken and the lobster tail. Our server and Josh was top notch. It says something about this group because he has been with them for six years. The cocktails and bartenders are impressive, The wine list, selective and excellent! We will go back to Collingwood just to visit this restaurant which is housed in the beautiful Dorchester boutique hotel.
Dining at The Pine is more of an experienced than just a
Dining at The Pine is more of an experienced than just a meal. You get many small course artfully prepared and served with explanations. The first couple courses were out of this world but the later ones were more uneven. All good and a few really good. I'm glad I went but it's very expensive so I won't return. It's a nice experience for a special occasion.
Amazing Flavorful Brunch
My wife and I had brunch at their new location inside the Dorchester Hotel at 172 Hurontario Street, in Collingwood. I'm over 60 years of age and eat out a great deal at top-quality restaurants. This was by far the best brunch I have ever had. The cafe/restaurant provides a window on the bustling activity of Collingwood's main street, in a charming art deco ambiance and decor. The waiter was dressed formally in the custom of Parisian waiters but was much friendlier. Joel took diligent care of us during our brunch. We both ordered a cafe latte, and I also ordered a cappuccino, both were excellent. My wife is Italian and has also lived in France, so she knows her coffee very well. My wife had the Lobster Benedict eggs and I ordered the mushroom eggs. The French-trained chef presented each of us with the most flavorful meals you could imagine. My dish had 4 poached eggs (normally 2 but I added extra), with delicately flavored beans and incredibly spiced exotic mushrooms with a drizzling of coulis. I requested bread and instead received warm pita with extra virgin olive oil which, due to my Greek heritage, I can verify was of the highest quality. Joel also ensured we had plenty of cold filtered water kept in a glass container on our table. The Greek and Lebanese owners offer a menu that blends the flavors of French, Greek and Lebanese cuisine. Upscale dining and priced accordingly.
Perfection !!
Everything about this gem of a restaurant is on point. Food is delicious, service is impeccable and the ambiance is bright and comfortable. The portions are perfect ! A must try for lunch or dinner.
Exceptional!
This is a wonderful spot for dinner. It has a warm ambiance, excellent service and exceptional food. There were many interesting choices on the menu. The vegetarian in our party had one of the best meals she has had in a long time. The service was great…attentive but not intrusive. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great spot in the area.
Simply wonderful
What a wonderful experience. From the moment you walk in to the minute you leave, everything was perfect. Service was impeccable. Without being over whelming, all the staff kept an eye on you and you never had to ask or wait for anything. But, the main event was of course the food. We started off with the newly introduced scallop dish. Wow.. I would put it at the top of any I’ve ever had. Then we both had the Duck Confit. Again, fabulous is all I can say. A lovely desert and as a non drinker, they had some awesome mocktails too. We will be back for sure. We enjoyed every moment.
A Lively Restaurant
This is a small and very popular restaurant. It was crowded and noisy but the atmosphere had a real fun vibe. Despite the continual stream of customers, the service was excellent - attentive, friendly and efficient. We were pleased we had made a reservation for a Saturday night. There is a large parking lot across the street and the restaurant is located in a stately, old home. The menu offered a lot of choices and my wife, who is gluten-free and dairy-free, had no trouble ordering. We enjoyed our dinner very much and would recommend this restaurant.
True fine dining service compliments the excellent food
The food was excellent - if you like mushrooms my friend said it was one of the best dishes she had ever eaten. Nice variety of food available - clearly noted dairy free, nut free, etc. The service was Fabulous. The female server on the evening of 31st August - sorry I didn't catch your name - knows about fine dining service. Amazing. Thank you so much
We travel the world for fine dining and The Pine is right
We travel the world for fine dining and The Pine is right up there with some of the best in terms of food quality and plating. 17 different items served over 15 courses. Nothing was bad and several dishes were stunning. Service was attentive and the ambiance was relaxed fine dining. Highlights were: Dirty Scallops - this dish is among the best dishes I've ever had. Chef Jeremy clearly has spent a lot of time creating what ended up looking like a mossy patch of ground in the forest. Visually stunning. Taste wise, the scallops were perfectly cooked with a nice fresh taste. The entire dish was edible and it was well constructed with thoughtful bits of crunch to complement the delicate scallops. This is what Michelin 3 star restaurants make! Other highlights was the tea egg starter that has an incredibly balance of the chinese style tea egg with the caviar. Bulls blood tartlets (there was no bulls blood) were beautiful, delicate and delicious. Great crip crunch and excellent balance of umami flavour and sweetness. The story behind the 1 month and 3 inches was interesting and the dish was delicious with foie gras. Qan Bian dish was another stunning dish with a beautiful delicate lead skeleton on top of a delicious dish comprised of peas and goat milk. The orange florets on top made for another visual masterpiece usually seen only at Michelin 2 and 3 star restaurants. Many other dishes has aspects of interactively where we either had to eat with our hands, put parts of the dish together (think Peking duck style), and with different stages (eat the item in the bowl and then drink the sauce). Chef Jeremy is an excellent chef who firmly deserves at least 1 Michelin star if not 2. Some of his dishes highlighted above are 3 star category based on our experience. He is creative and we love how he makes unique and at times unrecognizable twists to traditional chinese dishes. The Pine is one of the best restaurants in Canada and among my Top 8.
The Tremont is still the best.
I haven't reviewed the Tremont since 2016, but I've visited a few times since then, so an update! It's still my fav restaurant, and I believe the best in the area. The service and the food is sublime. If anything, since the Tremont changed location, it's improved. The style is more French than Italian in my mind, so if you're starving, this is not the place for you. If you love food, flavours, and like to feel great after a meal, this is your spot. The atmosphere is still warm, and I hope there still room left for walk-ins, but I always make a reservation because of the smaller size. They stay open a little later than some restaurants in Collingwood, thank goodness, because it can be a sleepy little town, when some adults like to stay out late for fun. The wine list is long and varied: the staff is knowledgable. I would love to see a few more wines available by the glass: it is a much better value to just order a bottle. Like many dining out experiences, the Tremont is a little pricey, so is not something I can enjoy too often. I appreciated the vegetarian choices. I was grateful to enjoy the Tremont for take out and inside dining during the covid-19 days, and want to thank the staff for making this effort. I was so grateful to have a dinner out again, especially of the calibre of your food.
Oh please… this place is perfection
Came here on a Friday night for a 7:30 dinner Cocktails were on point Service was great The attitude here is that they are happy you showed up We had the tuna appetizer The flavours were so good I then had the duck dish with beans Soooo good! Hubbie had the lobster shrimp dish which was also good The wine pairings which the server suggested were perfection
Tremont Café Showed Us Why It’s Ranked #1 In Collingwood
This restaurant scores highly on all the key touch points a place like this ought to: food, service, ambience, and wine list. Service here seems instinctually tailored to each table - in other words, the waitstaff knows exactly how chatty, helpful, and attentive (or otherwise) each party wants them to be throughout the meal. They are also as knowledgable about the menu selections as the chef & kitchen staff - a rather rare achievement these days. The menu itself was just right. Enough variety at its core, and a promised inventiveness with its listed ingredients. Our appetizers, and then our mains, were all superb. The limited dessert offerings sounded too good to ignore, and our choices finished off a fine meal. Tremont has an impressive wine cellar, and we were equally impressed by how well our selection had been cellared, and then served. The place was bright, white, and nicely buzzy. Folks all seemed to be glad they were there. We certainly were.
Excellent All Round!
This was our first visit to Tremont and it will not be our last. So impressed with the service, food and atmosphere! It is hard to find restaurants anywhere that are so great on all three fronts. The food was amazing. Favourite dishes were the duck confit and beef tartare. Service, however, might have been the star of the show. Waitress was so friendly and really took care of my mother and I. We ordered one dessert to share, but she brought us two saying they were small so she wanted us to each have our own. Really nice touch! Drinks were excellent as well and it was fun to watch the bartender work amongst the colourful bottles behind him. This restaurant is located in an historic old house that has been beautifully restored. All round excellent evening!
Fabulous Fine Dining
I went with my mom and adult son. My son and I each had the tasting menu. My mom ordered from the regular menu. This was one of the 3 best meals I have ever had at a restaurant. The food was delicious, the presentation/plating beautiful and the service impeccable. Highly recommend.
Best restaurant in Collingwood
My experience here is always phenomenal. I ordered the steak frites (rare), it was the best steak I’ve ever eaten. The flavours were amazing and the French fries w/ the sauce were delicious. The service was fantastic!! Would definitely recommend coming here. It is more on the pricey side but it is well worth it.
Excellent
A place we will keep going back to. The owner is friendly and kind, the vibe is good. Beautiful interior. Spring 2022 we did an extensive course menu that was lovely. We have been many times over the years and some of our favourite dishes are the sweet potato gnocchi and streak frites. Excellent dining experience.
Great food and dining experience
Great dinning experience. Sat at the bar for dinner. Fabulous service and great food. Had the octopus appetizer and the trout for dinner. Perfectly executed. Would order again and highly recommend Totally loved the environment. Chatted with the bartender, and met on of the owners, Billy. Great experience - not just the food (which always great), but the whole dinning environment. Looking forward to our next visit!
Dinner
Didn't realize that it was only a fix priced menu. Overpriced but the food overall is good. Perhaps you could offer a slightly smaller menu???
