Skadi Mammoth Lakes Reviews
A very lovely and tasty experience in Mammoth Lakes.
The service was good and very attentive. Skadi is a very nice modern elegant and fine Alpine dining alternative. Its Norwegian cuisine and decorative elements reminded me of my travels to Northern Europe. We ordered the scallops, chicken risotto, fig salad, and porcini mushroom crepe. The scallops and its accoutrements were tasty, especially the purรฉed cauliflower. My partner thought her chicken was delicious, but she raved about the risotto. And the complimentary bread and the accompanying browned butter were delightful. I would definitely make an effort to return on subsequent trips to Mammoth Lakes.
Excellent meal here for our anniversary.
Lots of couples celebrating. I had the perfectly cooked and curated scallops, DH had the duck breast. Oh the joy of well-prepared food! The salad was fine - nothing to write home about - the beets lacked flavor and I personally grow weary of cheesy salad. The gravlax was amazing and we loved that. We enjoyed our wine, too. A lovely pinot noir. Good pairing for him and I can't resist a pinot noir. Then back to our escape at Tamarack Lodge.
Best fine dining in the eastern Sierra.
Great attention to detail. Their location at the Empeiria High Sierra Hotel is a great improvement over the previous one.
The chicken dish was so amazing that we cannot fathom
The chicken dish was so amazing that we cannot fathom eating chicken again for awhile as it will surely not measure up to Skadi's. Every dish was spot on. I think you showed my better half the way of the Mission Fig. Delish in your salad with port dressing. Dinner here may be highlight of our trip! And oh the desserts. Save room!!!

Was excited to have dinner at Skadi last Saturday night, but food was mediocore at best. Ordered the crepes, scallops and New York steak. The crepes were delicious and were the best part of our meal. The scallops had no pan seared crust and with a mushy texture. The New York steak had no sear, was lukewarm, no flavor and tough, not well marbled prime beef. The potatoes were very satisfying. The food was very overrated for the price. Lots of excellent reviews but our dinning experience was OK. The four days we spent in Mammoth Vulcania was our favorite restaurant!!
It might seem impossible to find an exceptional restaurant in this mountain community, but SKADI is the place. The chef Ian makes an efforts to greet his guests and is charming. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is exceptional and plated beautifully. We have been to his three locations over the past 18 years and it never disappoints. You are in for a most unique and delicious experience.
Enjoyed a really exquisite meal here for my wife birthday .
We sat in a charming throne table and decided to try new things. Started with an outstanding wild mushroom crepe that is crisped just right . Wife finally dies not care for crepes but the sauces and texture were fantastic, more like a crepe layer cake. The scallops with cauliflower puree was fantastic, as was the potato cooked in duck con fit. I had the venison sausage with corn cakes and fresh huckleberries which was a really light tasty sausage that was my first venison experience and I lived it. Unfortunately my duck breast was too well done, med well, which never should happen but that's ok we still had a great time.

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Skadi and were completely blown away. The flavors, the presentation, the warm service, everything was perfect. Highlights: the Smoked Red Deer Heart with Cloudberries & Spruce Salt (wildly good), the Hamachi appetizer, the Canadian Duck Breast with Lingonberries, and the Duroc Pork Belly with Spiced Tenderloin & Jagerwurst, every dish was beautifully balanced and memorable. We ended with the Lemon Panna Cotta, which was bright, creamy, and the perfect finale. Chef Ian and Manager Chris made us feel like family. Skadi is a true Mammoth gem - We can't wait to come back!
We celebrated our 29th anniversary at Skadi.
We were welcome at the door by Ian. The service and food is amazing. We had the mushroom crรชpe, little gem salad, and the scallops, all the dishes were awesome. I can't say enough about the service, it was beyond anything I've ever experienced. Definitely recommend and will return, well done.
Best meal in Mammoth.
The service was friendly and food was delicious! The salmon was cooked to perfection, the hamachi app was also a highlight. This was a great place to catch up with family, not too stuffy but more elevated than most of the restaurants in Mammoth. With apps, dessert, bottle of wine and entree ran about $100 per person (group of 6). Will definitely return when I'm back in the area!
Food is outstanding and service is very good.
My favorite Mammoth Lakes restaurant. Only trouble some times is getting a reservation.
Delicious! Make reservations.
5 stars, no notes, super delicious. I had the pork trio and my daughter had the chicken. The risotto that came with her chicken was amazing - star of the show. We also had the chocolate sampler for dessert - highly recommend.
Donโt miss when in Mammoth!
Absolutely delicious food! Worth the struggle to get a reservation! I had the salmon and my partner chose the duck. We were both pleased at the presentation and food quality/taste. Service was excellent.

Best of Mammoth
Amazing food and service. Chef/proprietor seems personally invested in your exceptional experience. Much consideration has been put into the wine list. Best creme brulee I can remember having.
Delicacy and personalization at its finest. Be prepared for the chef to engage and inform you.
HANDS DOWNโฆ.. Best restaurant in Mammoth! Look no further. Weโve tried many, and this exceeds them all. If you appreciate food, delicacy, and presentation, Skadi is for you!
Fantastic!!!
Fantastic experience. Ian, the owner/chef is amazing. Staff is excellent. Food is outstanding. Not much more to add. :-)
Never again
Very disappointing. We made a reservation several weeks ago and asked for a nice table. When we arrived on time we were assigned one of the worst tables in the restaurant. We asked for another table, but we were told that all other tables were assigned to other parties (the restaurant was empty). The owner told us that they have a reservation system that assigned us to the table. What that system is not clear. Needless to say we left and will not return. We have been going to Skadi for several years every time we are in Mammoth. Not anymore.
Exquisite!
Excellent food, excellent service, lovely ambiance. Well worth every penny. We started with the air dryed venison (started with a G?), and the smoked trout. Both delicious and exquisitely prepared and presented. Our main entree was the venison, prepared as both tenderloin and sausage. Delicious! We finished with the macadamia chocolate caramel ice cream dessert. So good we refrained from licking the plate! A wonderful evening, our next adventure at Mammoth we will definitely be back. Do make a reservation, as they are often fully booked.

I have been going to Skadi since, maybe somewhere in the 90's. Loved the old place on Old Mammoth Road for the food and Ian's graciousness in dealing with his patrons. Go whenever you can get in! If you get in once, go twice.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Skadi Mammoth Lakes at 6 PM the same day.
He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Skadi Mammoth Lakes page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

* BraveCloth47 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.

* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Skadi Mammoth Lakes!
