The best thing about this place is the views, so gorgeous! The ambiance is very quiet with no music at all, crowd was boring, staff at the beach club was super rude, the staff at the restaurant was a lot more friendly. No one at beach club asked if they could get you anything so you have to walk up and ask, chairs didn't recline. I wouldn't go back, lots of other beach clubs to check out in Capri.

La Fontelina is a gem of a restaurant/beach club that is in such high demand that we couldn't secure beach club reservations even months in advance. Nestled on the side of a cliff in Capri, is this lovely place. It took our group of 8 on quite the trek down the side of said cliff in the hot Capri sun. Well it was worth the hike because the view was spectacular and the food was phenomenal. We basically ordered the entire menu but the standouts for me were the scallops, the fresh raw oysters and the seafood risotto. Of course the seafood tastes like they got it right out of the ocean. The service was also beyond amazing. Whatever we asked for, it was there with minutes and the table was quickly cleared of empty dishes and my wine was replenished a satisfying amount of times. I'm sad we couldn't experience the beach club but the view helped with the FOMO...btw the hike back up the cliff was intense. I'm grateful I'm in somewhat decent shape. An alternative to the uphill hike is a water taxi from the restaurant which requires advanced booking.

The restaurant is at the bottom of the mountain and it's a long wonderful walk down with amazing views and there at the bottom you find this place, you will have two choice, either climb back up that mountain which can be difficult or you take boat ride to area where you can catch a bus or cab but before you decide, sit down and enjoy some good eats, and drinks while seating sea side, i am looking forward to going back next year and recommend this restaurant.

So much hype for uncomfortable chairs and overcrowded "beach". I don't get it. Restaurant was fine- nothing special. Not at all worth the trek to get there.

We spent 2 weeks in Capri for our honeymoon and the first fews days of it here at Fontalina. LOVED IT. Take a cue from the super yachts lining the marina, this is not a quick Peroni and spritz IG photo opp, in and out establishment. The family who owns this place is very protective of it's reputation and the culture that has seen Fontelina named along side some of the greatest beach clubs in the world. This is a club, you earn your respect and treatment at Fontelina and you come here to spend a day, relax, take your time and respect a scene and culture that has been developed and nurtured over decades. It took us 1 day to work our way from a decent section to the nicest corner available on the property, both at the beach club and at lunch. It's not cheap, we spent nearly 1k Euros a day for 2 and tipped everyone, bought merch, got to know the staff, made friends with other guests and had the time of our lives. Can't wait to be back. And PS, if you walk the switch backs to and from Capri town (and are in half way decent shape) its nowhere near as difficult as people make it seem.
1 Day Experience
The views are absolutely incredible. We were here for 1 day. You can either get a chair or a bed, you can also get towels and umbrellas as well ( all cost $ ). It’s very peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Lunch is either at 1 or 3pm- food is fine- decent prices for being the only option available. A side of fries is 17€ to help you set you expectations, a Hugo spritz is 20€. Getting here is not for the weak. You must get a taxi to Marina Picola, then walk down and get a boat taxi or the La Fontalina shuttle ( both will cost $) and then boat ride to the beach club. It’s beautiful here and the views are incredible. Staff is not the kindest people I have met.
Great lunch away from home
I love this place in Capri, we go there every time we visit the island and it never disappoints! Great food, wine atmosphere and service! It’s difficult to get in, so book in advance and enjoy! Looking forward visiting soon again
Disappointing..
After being to la Fontelina a view times, we thought we had booked a table for 4. We emailed, even were there 6 weeks ago. We booked at the reception but appearantly had to click a link to give creditcard info. At the confirmation mail are time and date and number of people that come. But if you make a mistake, you are NOT welcome. No matter if you have spend more than €1000 the previous times. There was no way the girl at the desk wanted to look for a solution in what ever way. Is it your daughters birthday? Too bad, next please… Never again for us.
Very nice day
We went to both da Luigi and La Fontelina which are right next to each other. We had very good days at both. Both have great views. What I like about da Luigi more were the chairs themselves (full lounges) and the fact that they had a boat that would take you back to Marina Grande. La Fontelina has a boat to Marina Picola which then you have to take a cab to Marina Grande or take a bus to the town of capri and then walk, funicular, bus or taxi down to Marina Grande. The restaurant and beach attendants at La Fontelina had much more professional service and better food and the clientele seemed a little more chi-chi. I would say Da Luigi was 3.5 stars and La Fontelina was 4 stars. Just make sure you make reservations in advance for the restaurant and beach for La Fontelina:
Scam Establishment
Stay away from this place. I stayed in Capri for 5 nights earlier this month with my wife for our honeymoon. This place is a superficial scam. It was extremely windy, rainy and cloudy the day we went, I had spent the day prior and the morning of asking to cancel or at least move the date since they told me they would charge a cancellation fee of 100 euros per person since it was last minute. We ended up getting there at 11 AM, by 12 on the dot, they had to move everyone inside because of the weather. We ended up having a mediocre lunch there, and after I paid for the bill, which included the 2 beds and 2 towels, I came up to the manager and explained that it's extremely messed up not to allow me to cancel. This lady says "We do offer weather cancellation, you should have told me before you paid because now we can't give you a credit". We've traveled to many "bougie" places in London, Paris, Mykonos, etc. Never have I seen such a blatant scam. How does a place like that not have the capabilities to at least credit your card? Overall the service was horrible. The workers and especially the manager of the bed areas think too highly of themselves, as if we the clients owe them something. Definitely coming back to Capri, definitely never coming to this scam establishment again.
Awful waste of time and money.
We took a private boat taxi to the beach club from Marina Grande. Had lunch at the restaurant which was fine. The servers told us repeatedly that service was not included when the bill came. The bill included the beach chairs, towels and umbrella from earlier in the day. Spending the day here, was by far the worst service experience I have had on this trip, or any. No service, had to flag the guy down for anything we needed. Didn’t speak to us or anyone around us. Expensive for nothing and just honestly awful. I wouldn’t go back if it were free. Choose a different beach club. I read the other bad reviews and went anyway. Total waste of money and time on this beautiful island.

A total delight - Run don't walk - it really is that wonderful
This could be one of my favourite lunch spots in the world. Totally cool, fabulous staff, wonderful food and wine with a gorgeous setting by the rocks. Take the boat or walk down from the town, it IS a walk! But SOooo worth the trip. We had stunning seafood platters and the most delicious spaghetti vongole washed down with some fabulous local wine. Its not cheap but it is SO worth the trip. Its an Instagrammers delight! Picture perfect. GO!
Came here for a nice little beach day.
In order to sit at the beach you have to dine at the restaurant as well. Well, so glad that was the case because this ended up being not only the best dish I've had in Italy but also one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. We ordered the special which was a crepe with fresh tomatoes and Basil. My god it was so good. Staff were extremely helpful in getting us a water taxi as well. Last but not least sitting at the beach was lovely as well.
I came here as part of an epic trip.
I really thought this place was amazing. The ambiance was gorgeous and the service was attentive and friendly. It was a really nice place to relax and people watch. See and be seen! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Capri and looking for a sexy vibe!
The hostess was completely rude to us.
As we approached we asked her about a sign that asked for 40 euros to access their beach club which we thought it was the price to get into the restaurant. After she told us it was just for the beach club we decided to sit near the water and grab a drink and some food. She repeatedly told us we had to order food in order to be seated near the water. I repeatedly told her we would but she was so skeptical and made us feel very unwelcome. The location was great and the food decent (kinda pricey for what it is) but this hostess should not be in the service industry. She was very rude and not friendly to tourists. Even asking her where the bathroom was she would roll her eyes and sigh as if it was not her job to help paying customers.

This place should limit itself to the clientele they actually want. We booked well in advance for one day and they made it abundantly clear they are not interested in hosting anyone other than celebrities. Dreadful position allocated, (almost all oceanfront positions remained empty!), dreadful service and underwhelming food. I was stung by jellyfish- they were less than helpful and avoided us completely. We left early and they charged us for the privilege. If you want to spend your money for a great day at a beach club, do yourself a favour and spend it elsewhere.

Nice location on the rocks. You need a reservation in advance so make sure you book it if u wanna visit. Honestly it has a beautiful view but it is way to expensive for what they offer in terms of food. I mean, a capuccino is 9 euros, a cesar salad is 23 or 30€, and the portions are soooo small, that’s not normal. You can reach them by foot but you have to walk for 30+ mins from Capri center and there are so many stairs, difficult road. They offer also a taxi boat, that has a schedule and if u wanna leave early, 10€/pers.. whatver, will not go there again
3-4 Hour Lunch Experience
This is a great restaurant in which you spend 3-4 hours for lunch. That’s because it will likely take that long given the logistics of getting to and from from the Marina Piccola beach. La Fontelina is really only acceptable via boat from Piccola. For €7 each way, you are transported across the water, and in a little more than 5 minutes, you dock at the restaurant. Reservations are mandatory and I’d suggest you go earlier than your reservation. In my case, for a 2:30pm lunch reservation, I arrived at 1:15pm and was seated at 1:40pm. The food is quite good. We shared the grilled octopus as a starter and enjoyed mains of tuna steak and gamberinos (prawns). Tip: Check with the boat service on the time for the return boats to Marina Piccola. After 3pm it runs hourly (so we waited 45 minutes).

be careful. have to book a month in advance but food is second rate and expensive. They have a boat to bring you to the restaurant but then charge you and finally when they closed they left us stranded and we had to take a huge hike to get back. they refused to take us on last boat as it was full. it was not in any way great hospitality or a luxury feel
Mixed Bag
There is no question that this is indeed a spectacular site.. And this is THE beach to visit in Capri… You must commit to three days… well in advance and to lunch.. I’ll start with the positives… 1. Stunning site.. crystalline water.. If you love to be in the water as I do .. you will be in heaven.. There is a fair amount of turbulence in the water which makes it fun! 2. Menu Is varied and tasty. 3. Service in restaurant is very good. 4. Clean bathroom and changing facility. Outdoor showers. 5. Multiple holes for the umbrella enabling the attendants to move them according to the sun. The not so positives… 1. You are assigned a spot in advance… at the beach and the restaurant. Don’t even think of changing.. they will not.. ok it’s reasonable that those with longer stays get a better site..but a celebrity designer and his entourage was there for the day and got prime real estate. It’s not consistent or fair… and very frustrating. Tipping does not help. Therefore you may be right on top of someone and not in a great spot. 2. The walk down and back is very long...hot and especially taxing after a long day at the beach. It’s a negative for sure. You can take a skiff from Piccolo marina but it does not make sense if your hotel is close to beach. 3. There is no sand you r on concrete and rocks … very hot. Ofcourse that makes the water all the more refreshing. 4. Fee for everything.. reservation.. chair.. towels..
Not sure I get the hype here...
We heard a lot about La Fontelina before going to Capri. Everything we heard or read said we had to go, must book early, super fun party scene, etc. You definitely have to book early but I don't know about the rest of those things. The staff was fine, not overly attentive but nice enough. They didn't come around to see if you wanted another cocktail or water. They halfway asked how you liked your food. The food was fine, but definitely nothing memorable. For appetizers we had a mixed salad and an arugula salad with shrimp and parmesan...both were average. For entrees, we had the grilled baby squid and the grilled scampi. The squid was a decent size dish but very plain and kind of bland. My scampi was actually really good but it was so small, it felt like half the size of an appetizer, and came with nothing else. Lastly, the beach club (if that's what you would call it) was the most bizarre of all. Apparently you need to book weeks (or months) in advance to lay out here, but for the life of me I couldn't understand why. There were just random chairs and towels thrown on sections of the rocks. There was no music and zero vibe going on. Maybe the anticipation was just too high for us, but we would choose a different lunch spot next time in Capri.
Disappointing lunch
We were a group of 10 and had been looking forward to our lunch at La Fontelina. The arrival by boat was spectacular but once we entered the restaurant the service was mediocre. The staff weren’t overly friendly and the food was ok. The menu is varied and expensive as expected. We visited The Capri Palace afterwards and the difference in service was incredible. Our group was disappointed with the lunch at La Fontelina and wouldn’t return.

We were also able to reserve spots at the beach club, which I would highly recommend. The walk there is rough. It's very steep and long. I would recommend taking the water taxi from Marina Piccolo unless you are wearing good shoes, don't have kids with you, and are ready for a hike. The rocky beach is gorgeous and the restaurant has such a cool vibe. Get the white wine sangria with the peaches for a refreshing treat. The caprese salad was the best I had in my 3 weeks in Italy. The mozzarella was insanely delicious! I also got the seafood risotto which was rich and amazing. They were very accommodating of my gluten allergy and even had gluten free bread for me. If you spend the day here drinking and eating, it will add up, but it's worth every penny for the location and quality.

It's a long walk down a long staircase but you work up a good appetite. The service is great and the view is terrific. The menu was great and hard to choose what to eat but both of our meals were delicious. If you walked there you will probably want to take a water taxi back.
Listen to the reviews and don’t go
I should have read these reviews before coming here… a friend told us this was a “must do” but her experience and ours was vastly different. I pre booked our 2 chairs well in advance, at least 6 months, and made sure to get to the club early so we’d have better chances at a good spot. We arrived around 10am and checked in with the “host” assigning seats who seemed to give us an up/down look, we see next to our names that it’s written where you’re staying (Airbnb in our case) and then they decide how crappy of a spot they will give you. We got right by the boat dock with no view, a row back from the edge. I wasn’t pleased but I didn’t complain and tried to make the best of it. We were about one couple of maybe three that were there at the time. Then no one comes around to ask for your drinks. I think we had two rounds of drinks in the entire day we sat there because they just ignore you. Those chairs in front of us sat empty until like 3pm. We go to our designated lunch reservation at 1pm, again, the up/down and then worst spot left in the restaurant for our lunch. The food was just ok, nothing to write home about. Then we get the bill for lunch. It was over 300 euros. Had to google some things to figure it out but they charge you for a towel (20 euro each), cover charge (10 each) and walk in fee (35 each) ON TOP of your 100 euro chair. I knew this would be a splurge kind of day and I would have been fully been fine with it had the service been great and not made to feel like peasants. So unless you’re staying at a 5 star hotel and they make your reservation or literally hopping off your yacht nearby to spend a few hours, do not waste your time or money here. It kind of put a bad taste in our mouth for the rest of our time in Capri. We had better service and time at a random little beach club in marina piccola the day before that we just walked up to. Splurge at a Positano beach club instead.
Unique and spectacular view
A beautiful beach club with a spectacular view. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was great. The swimming area was really neat and the ocean water was crystal clear.
Uncomfortable vibes and rude staff
We heard the hype around this place and decided to give it a try. A great regret. Starting with the positives, the views were absolutely stunning. We enjoyed a wonderful salad and fish entree, which is the only reason I give any stars. Now the negatives. We still had an hour until they “close” the beach at 5:30 and basically had to beg to pay 72€ for chairs. They were quite rude and basically wanted us to leave without experiencing this. Once we were sat and finally relaxed, we were continuously bothered by staff saying “remember last boat leaves at 5:30.” On their website it states they close at 7:00. When we got on the 5:30 boat MANY other people were still on the beach and the water. It felt as though the entire time we were not wanted there. Don’t waste your time here - the other beach clubs at the Marina Piccola are equivalent, if not better as there is more area to swim and calmer waters. Beware.
Tourist trap
Despite the amazing view the food is completely average, as well as the service. As they noticed we wouldn’t order anything but the main course they gently put the credit card machine on our table as a not-so-subtle sign for us to leave. Definitely not worth the 10 minutes long walk to get down there.
Dishonest and exploitative management tainting an otherwise beautiful venue!
The setting is stunning and really dreamy, but be prepared to have it totally ruined by the scummy management. We hosted a pre-wedding day trip to Capri for our 50 wedding guests in early October (tail end of season), with lunch followed by lounging on the rocks. While the day turned out just fine in the end, my planners and I spent an hour getting barked at by management, and being harassed and strong armed into paying much more than we had contractually agreed to. We signed a contract months in advance for non-exclusive use of the restaurant and beach club. Our terms were straightforward - lunch be paid for per plate, drinks by consumption, plus an added 50 euro per person as a “large group surcharge”(never heard of this, but ok), plus included use of the beach club. When it came time to move our guests from the restaurant to the beach club, management flagged down our planners to stop us as we now had to to pay an *additional* 80 euro per guest, to use the actual beach club and its loungers and umbrellas. We thought this was a cruel joke at first, as I’d already confirmed in writing that our contract specifically included use of the beach club for our 50 guests. But apparently, per management, use of the beach clubs doesn’t explicitly “include beach chairs, but only the *right to access* the beach club”. I’d never heard of something so idiotic, and kindly asked the management to clarify. He rudely barked back at me, “we’re going to lose money because of you, as our clientele typically spend 400 euro per person, so it’s only fair charge you more.” Again, totally idiotic. Agreed terms are agreed terms, not to mention the beach club was nearly empty besides our guests, who we each had already paid for for a 3 course meal with wine. Given our hands were tied and we had no option but to pay up so our guests could have a great experience, we agreed to pay an additional fee that we finally negotiated down to 35 euro per guest. Thankfully in the end, our guests had a lovely day and that’s all we could really ask for, which made it all worth it. That said, we wouldn’t recommend ever hosting an event here, and won’t be coming back. Hospitality and service clearly aren’t even considerations for La Fontelina, which is a true pity as there’s no shortage of other equally beautiful spots that will treat their guests well, much less with respect and honesty. Exploitative behavior aside, we’d also add that this place is a total tourist trap that operates under the guise of offering a high-end experience. Outside of the views, there’s nothing high-end about La Fontelina. There’s no surprise that not a single luxury hotel or planning service ever recommends this spot.
Lunch By Boat
We are told this is a very tough place to get into during July & August, but it’s October! Part of the beach club, alfresco under cover overlooking the beach/water. We came by boat off of a tour of the island, then took the restaurant’s boat back to Marina Piccola. It leaves the restaurant on the hour for a charge; goes back and forth. So time your lunch. Nice pasta Merano style and canneloni special.
Great lunch
We had lunch at La Fontelina during a private boat tour of Capri. We were warmly greeted on the water by their boat and they brought us in for lunch while our boat waited for us. When we got off their boat we received another warm greeting by someone that escorted us to the restaurant where we were again warmly greeted and shown to our table with a great view ( hotel made our reservation, not sure if this had something to do with our warm greeting / great table ) . Food was surprisingly very good ( I was concerned it msg be a tourist trap) and not as expensive as we anticipated. Very glad we went as I was hesitant by some of the reviews. We did not use the beach club. It looked like fun (but not very comfortable)

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.
Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.
2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* PerceptiveWash44, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* PerceptiveWash44 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to PerceptiveWash44 for any questions Peter may have as PerceptiveWash44 user fills the bid.
3.) Finding the Reservation
* PerceptiveWash44 now uses their connections at La Fontelina Capri to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If PerceptiveWash44 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.
4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, PerceptiveWash44 receives the $200 reward which is credited to PerceptiveWash44's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at La Fontelina Capri!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
