Overrated, cannot recommend

1/5 by 👻 @Howard on 09/13/2025

I truly wonder how this restaurant maintains its Michelin 3-star status, because the experience fell far short of expectations. The service was shockingly poor – staff seemed to prioritize locals and regulars, while other guests were treated dismissively. One older staff member with white hair even placed another table’s wine bottle directly in front of me, blocking my view, seemingly because I had not ordered a bottle myself. The way I was treated made me feel unwelcome, and at times I sensed a degree of prejudice in their attitude. The food was another disappointment: overly salty, uninspired, and absolutely not worth the €390 price tag. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant. For the same cost, there are far better dining experiences in Europe where guests are treated with respect and food quality matches the price.

Treated poorly

Just a bad experience, we didn’t want to do the tasting menu and it seems as if we were judged for it. The entrees we had were exceptional but staff is so robotic and there is no personal touch. We didn’t want to purchase a $800 bottle of wine or the $400 tasting and just wanted to purchase a glass and entree, because of this things just because uncomfortable. Food was great but it’s an extremely stuffy experience

Very good in every department but nothing truly exceptional

4/5 by 👻 @Partner792 on 09/06/2025

We were really looking forward to this meal and in many ways it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was good, the service excellent and the food of high standard. Wine pairings are expensive but have some truly remarkable wines. The problem is you expect a lot and compared to other three star establishments there were no outstanding courses and some of the mark ups on water and wine were extraordinary. Certainly worth a visit while in Florence but for a meal of this magnitude there are other global choices.

Not to be missed!

5/5 by 👻 @KOPPELHUS on 08/09/2025

My wife and I made an unplanned stopover in Florence on our way to Tuscany. While commuting from Munich, we booked a hotel, and upon arrival, I checked the Michelin Guide for restaurant recommendations. That’s how I found Enoteca Pinchiorri — I called and, luckily, they had a table available for the following evening. When we arrived, we were escorted to the dining room on the first floor. We found it a bit dark and asked if we could be moved. Fortunately, we were reseated on the ground floor, which had a much more pleasant ambiance. We chose the “Heart Mother” tasting menu and asked for the wine list — and what a list it was. This wasn’t just a wine list; it was an encyclopedia. I spent several minutes flipping through it and quickly noticed that, as in many top-tier restaurants, wine prices — especially for Burgundy — were quite steep. But when in Italy, go Italian — or so I thought. They offered a wine pairing menu with three different pricing tiers, and we selected the middle option. A nice touch was the ability to choose between two different wines per course (e.g., two whites for the first dish). I found it a bit surprising that the wine pairings were all French, but the selections were truly outstanding — even if I couldn’t recognize them all. When you get the chance to enjoy a wine like Clos de Vougeot from Domaine Anne Gros, you realize that perhaps the rule should be: when in Enoteca Pinchiorri, go with the wine menu — and trust the sommelier. I initially identified the four wines listed, but the sommelier suggested I trust his judgment, given his understanding of both the food and the condition of the wines. I agreed — a decision I absolutely do not regret. Having dined at our fair share of Michelin-starred restaurants, I won’t go into detail about each dish (as menus tend to change), but the food, service, wine, and overall hospitality were exceptional. Everything was executed perfectly, and the sommelier was a standout. For reasons I still don’t quite know, he upgraded two of the red wines to higher-tier selections. This elevated the evening even more, as we ended up enjoying wines from Comte Liger-Belair and Méo-Camuzet. The Comte Liger-Belair, in particular, was extraordinary. Given its limited production, the sommelier’s generous pour — including a gentle refill — was especially appreciated. The total bill came to around €2,000. Certainly a lot of money — but absolutely worth it for the quality of the experience. I can’t guarantee every guest will have the same experience, but my wife and I will treasure this evening and already plan to return the next time we make a detour to Florence.

Fancy place for great food but not so perfect atmosphere. Expect a beautiful setting, high quality food, good service, high prices, especially on the beautiful but out-of-this-world wine list, but something of an unease on the overall experience. We may go back. Or not.

I've visited over 10+ michelin starred restaurants across

1/5 by 👻 @David S. on 10/19/2024

I've visited over 10+ michelin starred restaurants across the world (US, Paris, italy South Korea at all 1-3 stars levels) and this restaurant was by far the worst. The game - The game of this restaurant is all about selling you the wine package/paring. You are presented with thick wine pairing menu the moment after you are seated( the waiter who claimed to have 40+of wine experience held the menu upside down). You kind of get the vibe of why the hell are you here if you are not getting wine paring. It doesn't matter if u got the $350 per person tasting course(which we did for anniversary). Get the expensive wine tasting or you won't feel like u exist there (same for 2 other tables who didn't get the wine) Staff/training -1 out of 10. Undertrained and incompetent manager not worthy of 3 star michelin star. The old server dropped my bread, failed to propertly pick up chocolate desert properly. Lacks attention to details of 3 stars. They just want to do their part only and stay out of sight. No syngergy or stewardship present in even 1 starrred reataurant. When asked for a check the manager looking guy showed up dropped off the check like an AI without a single thanks. (Beware as they malfunction if u don't order wine pairing). No anniversary meal present in other michelin star restaurants. The servers seemed to how to fill the empty water glass(with a lot of splatters) or show you the way to the restroom. Food - 3 out of 10. Boring menu. Mostly bland with trying to play safe with their outdated michelin food that worked in the past. Lacks the effort to try something new. Out of all their 8 courses, two dishes were deemed michelin quality. One avocado dish and desert with sorbet( but you can't go wrong with sorbet so just one dish). Very unclear of identity the restaurant was trying to express. Overall - F. 3 out of 10.. I've been to le bernandin per se, eleven Madison Park and plenty of other 1-2 starred restaurant(jungsik, ichinura). Day before visiting this restaurant I was also at il palagio (1 star) and atto di vito mollica(1star) in firenze italy. Enoteca pinchionorri falls far below the michelin standard and I would say if it wasn't wine pairing it's probably just 1 michelin star worthy. As of Oct 2024 you can get 8-9 course tasting menu for 160-190 at these one starred restaurant. But $350 for bland food and get wine or f off vibe in an outdated restaurant? I don't recommend this place at all. Writing this to help out anyone else who wants to make a decision. Avoid at all cost.

My husband and I have been to many Michelin restaurants

1/5 by 👻 @Lily R. on 10/18/2024

My husband and I have been to many Michelin restaurants around the world and this was the worst experience. Atmosphere- the staff was non friendly and seems like no one smiled and was a dry ambience. Food- there wasn't a single dish I thought was Michelin worthy. They were generally very salty and unflavorful. Only dessert dish was ok. Service- it was non existent and was the worst part. From the host to the waiter, we did not feel welcomed. The waiter dropped our bread and desserts twice. Did not fill up water in time. We were somewhat pressured to order wine which we were not interested in. The explanation of each dish was too brief and he spoke so quietly, barely was heard. The waiter also missed the comments that my husband made, almost as if he couldnt hear us. There is no detail to the service. I had a hard time eating one of my dishes with a spoon and no one cared to bring a fork. Given that this is Michelin 3 star, it was worst then a small neighborhood spot. I would avoid at all cost. The guy that brought us the check did not even say a simple thank you. What a waste of $800.

Both tasting menus were excellent examples of experiential

4/5 by 👻 @Lis Z. on 10/03/2024

Both tasting menus were excellent examples of experiential dining, but given the price point, that could fairly be said to be meeting our expectations. The service was also excellent, and we felt our servers presentation and explanations were perfect. The atmosphere was good, but we wouldn't consider it a selling point, again, given the price point. In fairness, I didn't wear the sports coat, so maybe we got penalized in our table placement. It's hard to describe in exact terms, but something in the optional additions to the tasting menu (introductory champagne offerings, the wine pairings, the cheese tasting...the water menu) felt somewhat contrived to pressure for the extra spend. Maybe that's just the extra attention that comes along with an experience like this, so we're not inclined to read too much into it. Ultimately we turned away what didn't interest us, but we didn't feel that the two €15 bottles of sparkling water were more delightful than a stock offering. The reason we're disinclined to give the experience 5 stars can be summarized by the fact that, when we booked the reservation, the form asked about dietary restrictions, and we noted that one of us does not eat meat. We ordered both tasting menus, one vegan and one non-vegan. But the amuse-bouche they brought out was the same for both of us...and included pig? That's just not knocking it out of the park for a restaurant like this. We still had a wonderful evening, and we were very happy with both tasting menus, but it's hard to give 5 stars if you leave a €300+ per-person meal with any quibbles.

Poorest 3-star restaurant

3/5 by 👻 @Chan J on 06/29/2024

The waiters of the restaurant were in general good and friendly. However, the older Italian guy was not. He only showed up when we paid for the bill. He showed bad faces to my wife when he noticed that my wife gave additional tips to a young waitress who looked after us. The food in general was not bad but far from a 3-stars restaurant standard when compared with those we went over the world, and even in Italy. Definitely, overpriced especially for the wines, €2400 for 2 people. Don’t go, even if money is not an issue. We were allocated in the small garden area. There were lots of mosquitoes and we were giving insecticides and mosquito repellents. The mosquitoes were particularly annoying throughout the dinner. There were no apologies and no alternative arrangements, such as moving us to the indoor dining areas upstairs. I have to say that the hospitality was absolutely “amazingly” below average. It just gave us an impression that they were so arrogant to the extent that they even looked down upon their clients. Just from the point of their services and environment, this restaurant does not deserve a 3-star reputation.

Truly great food, but more of a 1 star experience.

3/5 by 👻 @Sus T on 06/29/2024

We were very excited to visit this storied three star restaurant during our visit to Florence. The food itself was outstanding; each course was absolutely delicious, complex, and balanced. They allowed a lot of flexibility allowing me to have the standard tasting menue and subbing in dishes from both the vegetarian and a la carte menues for my pescatarian wife. Where the restaurant falls surprisingly short was on service and hospitality. Micheline stars aren’t just about the food, but also the experience and environment. We were seated in the courtyard which was lovely but not memorable. Our service team was very hit and miss. We sat for a while before anyone came to welcome us. During the meal itself we sometimes were well looked after but at others were not. Wine and water glasses were frequently empty etc.. The restaurant pushes on the boundary of Micheline Star value. Once you are spending as much money as this meal cost it’s not worth griping about value but the wine list is easily priced at 5-7 times retail which is excessive. I also didn’t have the advantage of an offered consultation from the Sommelier as I poured through the literal encyclopedia that is the wine list. I settled on a really nice grand cru Chablis but would have loved to have worked through some of the regional options about which I am less expert. A couple of other constructive criticisms: while Signore Pinchiorri and chef Monco were very much present we received no visit from either even as we watched them interact with other tables and parade people through the kitchen toward the end of the evening. It started to lightly rain (we were seated outside), no offer was made to move us out of the rain through our dessert or even really acknowledge the rain. Toward the end of our meal the staff disappeared and then returned to start cleaning up all while Signore supervised them. I mean literally cleaning the dinning room; they were removing the silver from the room, the service pieces from the central area, the centerpieces from other tables. I would not have been surprised if someone had started mopping the floors. I had to get up and fetch our remaining wine and water to finish with dessert. No offer of coffee was made. We had to get up to ask for the bill. We have been around and quite frankly I expect more from a place recognized in this way. 3 stars because the food was sensational.

Please do Yourself a Favor!!

2/5 by 👻 @Kevin R on 04/29/2024

To say that this restaurant's price/quality ratio is extremely high (very low quality for the price) is an under exaggeration. My wife and I spent 3 nights in Florence and 2 nights in a small village outside Florence this April (2024). Having eaten out every lunch and dinner on our holiday, Enoteca Pinchiorri was the least satisfying experience by far. If I ignore the astronomical prices, it was still the worst meal we had. There was one course that was excellent - the Lasagna Verde. The suckling pig was very good but the rest were entirely forgettable. In addition, it's beyond difficult to imagine how this restaurant could garner 3 starts considering the service alone. We had to flag down the service team multiple times to refill our water glasses. They actually brought one course when I was in the restroom so it was sitting at my place by the time I returned, with no server in sight. After we finished a bottle of red we had ordered, we asked the sommelier for a recommendation for a glass of red. He recommended a glass of Barolo I was familiar with. As he started to pour the glass, he looked up at us and casually said, this wine is 80 Euros/glass. Then he proceeded to pour, without any doubt, the smallest glass of wine I've ever been poured in all of my 40 years eating out. It was absolutely insulting. I must state that this review does not go without a frame of reference. I did dine at Enoteca Pinchiorri many years ago - 2012 to be exact. I'm aware that many things change over the years at a restaurant. However, the previous experience was one of the best dining experiences of my life. The service was light years better, as was the food. I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad night - so hard to imagine - or quality has deteriorated in all areas (except, of course, the wine list itself). I'd love to know who the Michelin rep is for Florence. Please, please, please do yourself a favor and save your money and experience a much better dining experience (albeit a casual one) by going to one of the many excellent trattorias in the Oltrarno neighborhood. I'd give this restaurant a 2 stars (at the most) our of 5 for service and food. If I factored in price, it would be 1 star.

Pricey Pan-European propped up by Michelin

3/5 by 👻 @Michael U on 03/31/2024

A national building purchased by Giorgio Pinchiorri in 1972 Enoteca Pinchiorri carries all the excesses one might expect from a Michelin 3* Restaurant, from the 16 page Water menu to a €1950 3-Wine pairing and housemade Breads matching each course. Currently toqued by Riccardo Monco while Maître D Alessandro Tomberli directs gratuitously accommodating service it is atop plush seats that diners are invited to dine a la carte or as a €310 degustazione, the latter served at a pace accommodating those who eat both slow and fast. An opulent space filled with oil paintings and flowers, all of it mirrored by grandiose plates full of color, it is after selecting beverages that Canapes arrive as a rainbow of textures and flavors including a Squid Ink Beignet and Black Cabbage Tartelette with Quinoa. Cherished by oenophiles thanks to Pinchiorri’s extensive cellar, though a few bargains can also be found, late-Winter’s tasting began with a warm Oyster perfumed by Laurels before progressing through a thin piece or Squid atop Uni and sheeted Pasta with White Pheasant Ragout plus earthy Bechamel. Frequently veering far from Italy for Ingredients as well as inspiration, and thereby stripping away some of the ‘terroir’ that makes many eateries of Enoteca Pinchiorri’s caliber unique, Sauteed Snails in a Mousse of Sunchoke is nonetheless delicious while Turbot is unfortunately lost beneath all the ingredients on top. Increasingly complex with Duck Breast bathed in Passion Fruit alongside creamy Foie Gras the latter half of the menu is highlighted by a “Cheese Course” featuring Polenta plus Castelmagno while Desserts are elegant and enjoyable but “Italian” in no way. Declining the Cheese Cart, but not an impressive collection of Mignardises, it was after a thirty minute wait that the check arrived with a take-home gift and thanks, though no lasting impact as this sort of Food can be found at many Michelin 2* or 3* establishments nowadays.

This restaurant is a must visit when in Florence. The service, the food, the atmosphere - everything was perfect. We booked many months in advance to secure a table for dinner and it was worth it. We were welcomed to the restaurant by very elegant gentlemen and shown gorgeous table where a charming sommelier brought us the wine bible. It was truly amazing. Each staff member who presented a course did it with clarity and precision. Every mouthful was divine. All the little additions in between, also perfect. They deserve their three Michelin stars and a round of applause. Could not have had a better experience. Thank you!!

I walked into this meal with an open mind after reading

2/5 by 👻 @Stewart H. on 02/29/2024

I walked into this meal with an open mind after reading various mixed reviews, and feel compelled to write my own. For context, I've travelled globally for work for the last 30 years and like to think I have a balanced perspective of what is good and what is a value, premium or a luxury offering. So let's break it down Atmosphere - sterile and boring. Lighting it far too bright and chatter or opportunity to interact with other diners is very subdued. On a side note a we had a couple sitting next to us who were on 1st name basis with management. The wife chose to answer her loud ringing phone during dinner and engage in a loud conversation. I call this out as clearly the restaurant either has mixed standards for fine dining or money is a motivating factor. Service - I'd rate it as on par with a 2-3 star restaurant, this was the highlight. Food - this is where everything falls down. We selected the tasting menu and there was a single dish that we thought excellent, everything else was blah. Every dish lacked texture, making us wonder if the food was prepared for babies. I'd rate many Non Michelin and 1-2 star restaurants well above Enoteca for excellent/inspired food. How this place achieves 3 stars is beyond me. During our trip we experienced two examples that I'd rate well above. Wine Pairing - maybe there was a language barrier, we felt it lacked inspiration and no attempt was made to explain why they matched certain wines. On the plus side, they don't charge by the glass but instead by the number wines you select, and they proactively refill your glass. This element is pretty good value. Cost - we did not experience the upsell pressure others speak off, but for what we enjoyed...yeah I agree there is little justification for the price At the end of the day, I'd encourage readers of this review to skip and explore many other options for a great meal and experience.

This has got to be one of the worst dining experiences I ever had. Complete disaster and train wreck of a restaurant. Came to celebrate just getting engaged and thought wow what a perfect ending to getting engaged than by visiting a 3 michelin star restaurant in Florence. Everything should be perfect right? The food was terrible. After the second dish I was like how does this place have even 1 star. Every dish had something majorly wrong with it. Either too salty too acidic too sweet. And presentation was literally like they just threw it together and sent it out. By the time dessert was coming around I pushed my plate away disgusted and wanted the check to leave. Shofking the service even though there was plenty of staff was lacking. I had to ask a few times for water refills. Napkins not folded. Just small details that shouldbt have been missed but were! This restaurant is used to disappointed guests tbh! Every single table I saw left with the same disappointed face as ours. Truly they ruined what was supposed to be one of the best nights of my life! No one even said congratulations. After contacting I have not even heard an apology from them! Such a disgrace of a restaurant! Definitely must avoid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Almost left out of here in tears with how bad the evening was. It was supposed to be for a special occasion considering the expense. I was shocked after the first course this was 3 michelin stars! Food presentation was basic at best! The food; everything had major issues like too salty/ sweet/ acidic! Service should be near perfect and this was decent! I feel like when you leave a 3 star restaurant you should be absolutely blown away by everything. By the end of it i was pushing away dishes because of how gross the food was. I even refused the trolly of chocolates since I was so frustrated. I think the most disappointing was the fact that no one seemed to care. This place is an absolute disgrace! They seem like the type of place that would brush off the reviews because they think we dont get their food and no its because theres no talent! Theres a difference!

This place is purely insulting.

1/5 by 👻 @Skipper T. on 10/13/2023

I'll concede that the Prosecco (25 addition) was playful and a nice start. It's all a train wreck from there. Let's start with the water list they provide like it's a service. The Panna Aqua (15, retail 1), which we ordered three of to stave off the salty/uninspired food, was hidden away and we had to ask for refills several times. Amazing service! Then there is the gimmick of a 'wine pairing'. This place boasts about its wine cellar but can't be bothered to pair wines to its tasting menus. Instead you get to 'choose your own adventure', which is really just a thinly disguised scam. We chose the upgraded Italian treasures (375pp for 3 wines that they clearly recycle to the entire room). They said "they choose the wines to fit your meal perfectly". Really? This joke of a restaurant thinks the wines pair perfectly with both the vegetarian and regular tasting menu. Insulting. They'll continue to try to upsell every dish like a tacky stall vendor. The food was not good. Everything tasted the same. No range, no creativity, no wine, no water for you!! Three Michelin stars is a pure hoax. I would have paid more (900pp) to have saved myself the sour experienced. Good riddance.

5/5 by 👻 @Timothy L. on 09/23/2023

For some it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and for others it was a treat. But for us it was perfection. Antonia knew the wines, and Juilio knew the menu and the service and together we had a night we would not forget. We did the tasting menu to experience Tuscany and its history with a blend of Asian influence. But the night was fully satisfying. I must say, to highlight the night and the service, Julio was fantastic. And from the stories of the people that worked there it could not be ignored that Mr. and Mrs. Pinchiorri were with us the whole night. Through their dedication and love of wine and food, the service was able to give us everything we wanted, and more. I want to give Julio a special thank you for bringing a fine dining experience to the table that involved attention and detail but also a human experience that with just food could get lost in the hard to pronounce/explain food and wine. But most importantly we learned from the staff that greatness comes from the ups and downs. Our life today fails to recognize the importance of hardship and hard days or hard discipline, but it is in the critical moments or work and life that we are able to be our best selves and enjoy the balance of life. To alllll the staff and to the dedicated owners of Enoteca Pinchiorri, Grazie Mille. And to Julio, may you never forget, NYC is great, but Boston is better and you will always be welcome if you wish to visit. Please reach out. Arrivederci and good luck.

5/5 by 👻 @Dave K. on 08/02/2023

Dress appropriately or you may have issues: you can read the website, but my take is sportcoat appreciated, long-sleeve (ideally with collar) shirt required. Service-wise we had a great experience, none of the issues that some have reported here. Ambiance-wise, it was great; what you'd expect at a three-star (i.e., lots of room and lots of staff). Food-wise, we particularly appreciated being able to order a la carte or the tasting menu, which is increasingly rare at two- and three-star restaurants. Food-wise we enjoyed: the mountain egg, the amberjack, the angolotti, the suckling pig, the pigeon/squab, the veal chop, the cheese cart, and we were so full we skipped any dessert. The amuses bouches and such were awesome as well. The wine list is insane. The water list was a first in my experience. We had a quick wine cave tour at the end conducted by the aimiable sommelier (Antonio) and it was great. Finally, it's not cheap, if you do a 50/50 spend ratio on wine/food you can quickly end up in the $750 range per person.

4/5 by 👻 @Yiqiu W. on 06/01/2023

First of all, make sure your man wear long sleeve shirt or a jacket. I forgot about this rule and we almost got rejected at the door. The door man is a bit rude in my opinion because he basically said we can't eat here but eventually he offered us a suit jacket to wear. I just don't understand if there is a workaround why he would be so hard on us. Then the food. You can choose 290 tasting menu or individual course. The total price of appetizer and the primi and secondi (if you order all three) add up to 290 euro as well. So we decide on three courses because the tasting menu doesn't look as appealing as the individual course. Overall the food is amazing, except the veal which I personally thought is too rich and too big of portion for such rich flavor. Our favorites are the egg, agnolotti, ravioli, piglet and Soufflé. All of them have surprises in the texture of the ingredients or the balancing of the taste. Now I have to talk about the wine. They have a book of their wine list. Yes, a dictionary looking book. Until we noticed there is literally no bottle of reds under 250 or over 200 per person for wine tasting of two glasses, I started to realize we were actually eating in a three star restaurant. We end up ordering a 450 bottle and it is an amazing wine. It's just not our expectation to have wine price over the food. The restaurant makes the whole dining experience extraordinary. Wine, food, menu, plate, water all have their own dedicated waiter.

An EXCEPTIONAL 3* Michelin

5/5 by 👻 @Year1979 on 02/25/2023

I knew I wouldn't regret my decision to make a reservation in this restaurant whilst in Florence. The moment I walked in and greeted by the host, I was made to feel like a princess. Not sure if because I was a solo diner but I was not going to complain about it. The staff were so welcoming and explained everything so well to me and I knew exactly what I was going to get. The food was made to perfection and the selection of wine and champagne was a dream it was all so beautifully presented and well worth the money.

The Worst 3 Michelin Star Restaurant I’ve Ever Visited

2/5 by 👻 @Mr.C on 02/18/2023

Sweaty McDonald’s lettuce anyone? Pathetic and insulting. This review would’ve been one out of five if it wasn’t for the pianist, the fairly pleasant staff, the focaccia bread and one course which was actually okay. The restaurant is situated in a rather grand palazzo but unfortunately the atmosphere of the restaurant is dead to say the least. All tables were so hushed and pretentious but more fool them for thinking that they were so great and for eating here. I think this restaurant is very much an emperor’s new clothes situation. They put far too much emphasis on wine (and water for some bizarre reason) and not enough on the food. This is a bottle of wine with food on the side, not the other way round. The water menu is interesting but this is just something else I found quite pretentious and unnecessary, especially when such poor food is served here, who cares if the water is sourced from an arctic iceberg. None of the dishes served here were creative or on the other hand delightfully classical. Some members of the party had the vegetarian menu which was awful and insulting at times. This included a spaghetti dish which was not al dente at all and was akin to eating slop and cabbage which was served almost immediately after the worst thing I’ve ever eaten in a three Michelin starred restaurant, the lettuce. This lettuce was actually quite disgusting and was similar to something you’d find at the bottom of a McDonald’s burger, it was sweaty and just horrible. I recommend the restaurant to remove this dish immediately and to rethink their vegetarian menu or to not offer one at all. Just because someone doesn’t eat meat, it doesn’t mean they want to eat lettuce and cabbage, a little more thought would be appreciated please. Luckily, the focaccia and the gnocchi dish was okay. The cheese course here is ridiculously overpriced and not worth it. €80 for two plates of cheese you can get anywhere? However I was happy enough to pay this to eat something that had flavour. I ate at Osteria Francescana the night before and that was much more of an international three Michelin starred standard. The vegetarian menu there mirrored the standard menu with the dishes altered to become suitable. The flavours, creativity and technical skill were there at Francescana, here they were not. Five ages of parmesan or a lettuce? It doesn’t take long to realise which is a better dish. I’m not sure if Michelin is awarding here three stars because of its history, its wine cellar or what, but I think it’s time for a reevaluation. This restaurant is worthy of a single star at most for me personally. This is not the same standard as say Guy Savoy, Arpège, Mirazur or even L’Enclume and Clare Smyth in the UK. Grossly disappointing to say the least. I believe in Italy it is not actually necessary to eat in starred restaurants as the food is generally good in most restaurants, so unless somewhere is exceptionally creative, skilful or luxurious in ingredients, I don’t think it’s worth eating in a Michelin starred restaurant in Italy, there’s just so many better options. I can have better pasta and risotto in a trattoria next door. Unless you’re artistically reinventing these classic dishes or serving them in the traditional manner with the best of the best high priced luxury ingredients, why bother? I certainly do not recommend this restaurant at all unless you’re somebody who considers wine and water more important than the meal itself. Go to a trattoria or even get a sandwich at Antico Vinaio and save the rest of the money to spend somewhere worth going.

My favorite restaurant in Italy.

5/5 by 👻 @Elizabeth Y. on 12/21/2022

We were a bit nervous upon entering as it was our first 3 star Michelin restaurant - but my gosh - the service! We don't speak Italian - but the servers all speak decent English. They have a water menu - but... the wine menu... is a different story - I'm not kidding - their wine menu is a thick textbook size.. and after dinner - you can see why.The sommelier was kind enough to give us a wine tour afterwards - and it's an entire floor basement - they have wine dating back to 1896! They don't have a specific wine pairing menu that goes with the tasting menu - rather you choose a selection of 3 or 4 or 5 wines to go with your meal. We were quite overwhelmed with the textbook wine menu - so we just asked the somelier to choose for us and we went with the 3 wines - but he was kind enough to let us taste additional wines that other patrons were tasting that evening. While this is an Italian restaurant - there are definitely hints of Asian fusion , which I think shows additional creativity in the chef. The pappardelle had nori in it - giving it more of a seafood flavor. The piglet had pickled eel sauce and cooked in a way where it reminded me of a pork belly with a crispy skin. The cuddle fish with the fermented lemon and parmesan foam was so good! I even had my first taste of escargot - which actually wasn't too bad (chewy and salty) - to be honest i don't think i would eat it again, but as an experience- wasn't bad at all! I also had my first Baba which was a mix of savory and sweet! so good! We then had some cheese to taste served with honey, (highly recommend the blue cheese with sherry). Palate cleansers were refreshing - and in the end it was a multiple dessert experience with lemon tartlet followed by selection of chocolate, berry foccacia, and then a bar of chocolate to go home with! We didn't realize how quickly the time went by and it was already 11 PM by the time we left. Service was fantastic and our sommelier was awesome!!! Always checked up on us - talked us a lot - i can see why people like the Obamas, Tom Cruise come here! - we left with huge smiles on our faces - not caring how late it was as we just had the most amazing food experience in our first few days in ItalyIf you guys are ever in Florence and have money to spare - a must visit. We visited three Michelin restaurants during out v isit to Italy - and this was the best! If I ever am back in Florence - I'm going to come back!

We ate here in July 2022 and were celebrating our engagement, which I put on our reservation. Food was decent from the tasting menu. The cuddle fish stood out as our favorite. Wine list was ridiculous. Couldn't find a glass of wine under €70. (I don't drink much so the tasting would've had me on the floor.) At the end of the night, they brought out a cake acknowledging our engagement from the reservation. Then they charged us €50 for the cake that we didn't order on top of our €1200 bill! A nice one time restaurant, but not good enough to go back again. In a city like Florence where a bad meal is hard to find, my recommendation would be to find a local restaurant with great house wine for a fraction of the price.

I made a reservation here, received a confirmation that didn't include a calendar link, then received no reminder emails whatsoever. I received a call 35 minutes after our scheduled reservation time asking where we were and reminding us of the $500 cancelation fee. I felt really stupid having to close out a tab for uneaten food elsewhere and then running a mile across town; though I did arrive and salvage the night. Some of the onus is on me, but this should NEVER happen when you need to book reservations so far in advance.I'm on a food binge and have probably "collected" 18 Michelin stars over the last month. This was the least memorable restaurant especially relative to the price tag and superlative Michelin rating. This seems to be an overwhelmingly wine-centric restaurant with a comically large list served in a leather-bound tome. We did order one of the wine pairings at a price that I found astronomical for wines local to Italy. The somm, though affable, was nowhere near the level of expressiveness that I recently experienced at Ever or Oriole in Chicago or Il Pagliaccio in Rome. The food was very good with some Italian influence, however very abstract and difficult to explain or remember. I suspect that I would have had a better experience if I ordered a la carte. The table next to us brought a small baby; this should never be allowed.Still a worthy restaurant if you have an unlimited budget, but for me this was a lesson in that hunting the absolute-highest-rated restaurant in an area is usually suboptimal. We were much more impressed by Santa Elisabetta and Borgo San Jacopo.

Wow... I don't have words to describe this experience. To celebrate my wife's birthday I successfully booked a reservation at Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence, Italy. This restaurant has been a 3 star Michelin restaurant since 1993 and is owned by Giorgio Pinchiorri and Annie Féolde who have had their restaurant voted one of the top 32 restaurants in the world and recipient of the Wine Spectator Grand Award. The wine cellar is literally one of the largest in the world and you are given a list bigger than the bible (in addition to the 'water menu'). I have been lucky to dine at some of the best restaurants, and this experience is one of the most memorable. On entry into the restaurant you are greeted by a parade of servers and workers of the restaurant who will wait on you hand and foot for the rest of the evening. To start, you are given a water menu to choose what country and type of water you would like - note, most countries have many to choose from. You then are given a wine list longer than the encyclopedia. I highly recommend working with the sommelier to at least filter down to a handful of options based on your preferences and price range. Then the courses start rolling out. When we were there this included:Cuttlefish tripe with 24 months Parmigiano Reggiano milk and fermented lemonRoasted and unboiled escarole and mascarpone ravioli, mullet bottarga and herring mousseCelline almond and olive soup, aubergines with bergamot and lobster with juniperPappardelle sea, mountains and hillsGreen vineyard snails, snow peas and slightly spicy avocado salad and coconut sauceSpit-roasted Mora Romagnola pig, pickled eel cream and purple cabbage leaf with pepperBread and gravyRaspberry and roseLemon TartChocolate Truffle CartThe evening blew my mind from flavors to the level of service. It is one for the books!
