Clark's is our favorite oyster experience we've enjoyed in
Clark's is our favorite oyster experience we've enjoyed in Austin so far! This spot gives off such an adorable old school diner vibe with their retro barstools at the counter and letter board menu. We lucked out with seats at their lively oyster bar where we received wonderful hospitality and service from their team members that rocked classic uniforms of white button up shirts and dapper black bow ties. We delighted over the fresh oysters and chowder that paired perfectly with our bottle of bubbly. This was such an amazing meal and we can't wait to visit again!

Always delicious! Definitely on the pricier side but worth it for the amazing ambiance and great service. The French fries and bread are delicious and the oysters are always fresh. Definitely a summer favorite

An hour for appetizers, meal and drinks? Are you kidding? What are you thinking?
It pains me to write this because we have been going to Clark's for years whenever we visit Austin, enjoying their broiled oysters and burgers. That's probably why I was SO surprised at our experience today - and hope it was some mistake in management's judgment, not to be repeated. In a nutshell: We arrived for our 3 PM reservation. As usual, we had our appetizer, two drinks apiece and our meal. At 4:15 PM, we had JUST finished when the manager came and told us there was a "reservation for our table" (I don't think anyone really reserves a physical table assigned to them, BTW) and asked us if we could pay our bill. WHAT??? Not only is this ridiculous - it's not like we were sitting around, toying with a dessert and water for an hour - but if there is now truly some kind of informal understanding that you get an hour for your meal and drinks here - shouldn't that be made clear at the time of the reservation? (Hmmmm.... I also thought it was strange that two other tables had been occupied at the time of our arrival and didn't see either of them being asked to "pay up".) Really soured our whole experience today, which was a shame as the waiter was very pleasant and the food and drinks and service otherwise were fine. I hope management reads this review - and thinks about how it would feel as a customer to come from out of town (as we do), make a reservation here, and then be essentially booted out of their seats in an hour (I"m saying an hour because our appetizers didn't arrive until 20 min after we were seated). Management: please read this in the spirit in which it is intended. You can have good food, ambience, service, etc. - but when you thoughtlessly do things like this, all their hard work goes out the window and all that is remembered is how rude you essentially were (albeit with a smile). We leave town on Monday and it will be six months before we are back to Austin - I hope to give them another shot and that this is a total one-off. What a shame.
Loved this place so much I went back for lunch 3 days later.
Everything we had was so good. Lobster Roll with fries x 2, the burger, and the snapper.

What can I say?! This is one of Austin's finest restaurants, hands-down! You can't go wrong with anything on this menu! Fresh and delicious! Ambience- 5 stars although a bit cramped. It's not a big place. The patio is lovely. Total vibes. Service- 5 stars every time! Food - 5+ stars. I could literally eat here every single day and work my way through the menu. Everything is so delicious. If you're into seafood, I would have to say this is probably the best place in Austin to get it!

Perfect Anniversary Lunch
Went to Clark’s Oyster Bar for lunch and had a wonderful anniversary celebration. The service was really attentive and friendly, with little details like a happy anniversary postcard on the table when we arrived. Sat outside, set back from the quiet road, under a tree and their lovely yellow awnings, it was great to be outside. Cocktails were beautifully crafted, with strong flavours and a good amount of alcohol, and food arrived timely to the table. We had Oysters to start, which looked beautifully presented on a large metal dish of crushed ice with shaved horseradish and condiments, as well as the most delicious starter in their Tuna Carpaccio. This is an amazingly crafted dish, how they get their tuna to such a thin yet beautifully firm and flavoursome presentation shows real craft, complimented by all the olives, capers & sunflower sprouts, it’s a star dish. We had the lobster roll, a staple dish which could easily be shortcut, but every detail has gone in to elevate this dish too. The brioche roll was caramelised perfectly, huge perfect lettuce leaves cradled a very generous amount of delicate lobster, and a huge bowl of rosemary shoestring fries and a fresh ‘slaw to side, it just looked amazing and tasted so too. Finished off with a delicious key lime pie, and a torched Swiss meringue on the side, this was one of the best of many meals we had on our holiday to the USA. Highly recommend and would certainly go back if we visit Austin again and try their evening sitting, which I imagine with the fairy lights in the tree’s, would be just as magical. Thank You.
Just go!
Wow! This place was great! Just walked up after a day being out and about and it was grand. Nice and attentive staff - even if the manager gave into That Guy who demanded that he be seated outside at a table for 8, even though there were only 2 of them. (Scumbags always feel entitled). Terrific food and an interesting wine list. Wish I could have ordered more!
Delicious and Fun
This place was great and the service was super friendly. We had no idea what to order (for the oysters) and our waiter was a great help and gave some great recommendations. The area is super nice and we had a great time.

Have been going to Clark's for years.
It's obviously a great restaurant. But last night all four of us ordered the burger; two of them were medium and the other two, mine included, were well done. The waitress said they come medium, but we specifically said we all wanted them medium rare (for this very reason). We didn't say anything because it was freezing outside and we didn't want wait for them to be remade. Plus they always come by and ask you how the food is at your very first bite and then never come back to check on you. But if you're going to charge $24 for a small burger, I just don't understand how you can't cook it correctly.
I appreciate how true it is that this is an Austin staple.
You can tell they hold their place here, especially when looking for seafood in a place that's, well, not that great at serving seafood. Let's just say Austin isn't the place to go for seafood. However, Clark's is the closest you can get to Pacific fresh. $3.50 Oysters, half-off martinis ($9), and half-off burger for Happy Hour from 3-5 PM on weekdays. Options offered for palette cleansers such as sourdough bread served with sea salt and radish. If you're planning to go, I recommend reserving in advance. Space is limited. Best option is outdoor patio on a nicer day. Or at least not on a rainy day (there are heaters). Garbo's takes the lead for top Lobster Roll, but I do look forward to giving Clark's Lobster Roll a try in the near future. For the first visit, met my expectations, but still interested in what can "wow" me here. Ambiance fits the theme. In fact, if you disregard W 6th, you'd wonder if we were near a body of water due to the decor and uniform choice of the staff.
Clarks oyster bar.
.. yum. Cute place. Expensive, but was justifiably so. Fries were not really fries, more like crispy onions. The burger was the best thing we had, not pictured. Loved the oysters but would have skipped the expensive fish dish. Would go again but would keep it more simple!
A perfect intersection of cool, creative, and crazy
A perfect intersection of cool, creative, and crazy delicious. There's always a line here but everything is amazing. Do not skip the TX redfish.
Very pleasant upscale dining experience.
The seafood is fresh and well prepared. Love the modern atmosphere. Our favorites included the lobster rolls and oysters on the half shell. Lots of oyster varieties to choose from. The two we sampled were delicious. The lobster roll was perfectly prepared with a nice toasted roll. The extra drawn butter on the side is a nice accompaniment. Service was friendly.
Five-star experience at Clark's during happy hour, offered
Five-star experience at Clark's during happy hour, offered M to F 3pm to 5pm daily! BEST DEAL - The half-priced burger and martinis steal the show with both their looks and flavors. Shout out to our outstanding server, Kyle, who embodied patience, attentiveness, and friendliness. GREAT AL FRESCO SPOT - The warm, sunny day in Austin was made even better by the great vibes and wonderful al fresco location. A perfect spot for a delightful and satisfying happy hour experience plus they're DOG FRIENDLY in their outdoor patio
I heard about this place from instagram.
They said it's one of the best burgers in Austin, and I thought that's mad sus because this place is an oyster bar. This place is the ditty dog of burgers - it'll change your life. You might wake up and discover you have a new identity. Try the Sundown drink - it's not on the menu but it's a terrific cocktail.
We had great service and still think about the food often.
I wish I lived closer to go back more frequently!
The question "Have you had the burger at Clark's?" was
The question "Have you had the burger at Clark's?" was recently posed when discussing Austin burgers, a hot topic of conversation in my group of friends. Fast forward to today, we hit Clark's 3 - 5 pm happy hour that boasts both half price burgers and martinis, a win-win. The burger is indeed delicious and served with fun straw like fries. Albeit a little hard to grasp, they are quite tasty and I loved the crooonch. The burger also comes with special 24 hour pickled cucumbers, slightly sweet paired with the vinegar of pickling. Today we capped the meal with an affogato, my all time favorite dessert. Clark's version is served with a salty sweet chocolate chip shortbread with sea salt. Yes, yes, yes. We were seated in the bar area as we hadn't made a reservation. The space offers a communal table as well as bar seats facing the kitchen. Our server was idyllic, friendly yet gave us space to chat and eat, even linger over the dessert. She seemed to be working the entire bar area and was able to provide good service to all. In past experiences at Clark's I've enjoyed dishes from the cold bar including the crudo plate, ceviche, steak tartare, shrimp cocktail, as well as some of the veggie sides. I prefer my seafood raw and sadly am not an oyster fan, I do keep trying them every year in hopes this changes. I do hear they are good here :) PS: While writing this review I've learned that on the ala carte menu there is a grilled cheese with sofrito that I'd like to try.
Rude staff
I read good things about this place, but when entering I instantly felt uncomfortable, I was a single man, not dressed like most white collar current customers and younger than most (city style). I felt like I was being looked at and judged right when I walked in and sat down, as if I wasn’t going to spend money? So I tried to ignore the first impression by making some small talk with the bartender and ordering a home town favorite, clam chowder. Y’all can go check the menu, it says nothing about TOBASCO sauce, and being from New England, we just don’t do that with authentic chowder, there’s nothing spicy about it. I told them I didn’t like it due to the hot sauce being added with out even being documented on the menu… that’s when the bar manager with her facial expressions made it very clear that SHE wasn’t happy lol… she was rude to me, the bartender helping me and just all around negative. Hospitality is about comfort, smiling and making ppl feel wanted, not scaring people away with your attitude and facial expressions. I would mention her name but I’m not that petty. Just do better. If there’s hot sauce in the chowder, mention it, if you mess up, don’t be mad at everyone else.
Very good....just not as good as they think they are....
These folks think a lot of themselves. The food & cocktails are very good but simply not worth the prices charged. Service ranged from friendly but detached to peeved about a perceived slight to pleasant and well-meaning to downright fawning. I heard fr/ several in Austin about how wonderful the place was and after dining there thought this place is "trendy" and that is the best description. I splurged on the oven-roasted Gulf oysters and thought they were very good (just not worth $23). The Crispy Skinned Striped Bass was excellent (maybe worth $39?). Service was all over the place w/ one bartender being very personable, informative, and helpful and another took a comment about traditional drink preparation as an insult and decided to tell everyone at the bar how customers should not be telling professionals how to do their jobs (perhaps if she had known I have been in the industry for years and the comment was an aside about how cocktails were traditionally made and no insult as to the excellent cocktail she made but thin-skinned is thin-skinned and she decided to stand aside and glare at me and spread insults for the rest of my stay.) All in all knowing what I know now I would not bother. The food was very good just not worth the prices charged and there are better values w/in walking distance--not to mention you do not have to deal w/ prickly bartenders.
I love Clark's, but today they get 1 star.
My wife and I had a special day planned in which we chose to spend our time here for our birthdays. Unfortunately upon our arrival, we were informed that because we were 20 minutes late to our reservation (5 minutes past the 15 minute threshold they allow) that our reservation could no longer be honored. This is despite the fact there were multiple tables empty throughout the restaurant and that we had a reservation in place. Yes, we were late, but it's because our childcare was late.....and because of that our whole day was ruined. Do better Clark's. I will hold the grudge and not be back.
I love this place.
Can't recommend a place with properly chucked oysters. The service is great, there's been a few hick-ups with a childish/female hostess. The manager and other employees all make-up for that one experience though. It's worth the and wait and money for properly chucked oysters that are fresh. Clark's is one of the places I think has kept their consistency with food and service during inflation and a recession.
A true gem of Austin.
Best oysters you'll ever have. They get flown in daily from where oysters are tastiest. Outdoor seating is bliss and an escape. Inside not so much

HH is pretty good! Loved the cocktails! The burger was really good but I just can't get behind the fries. I don't get the hype. I want fries with my burger not odd thin shoestring potato strings. Idk, maybe that's just me. Also the macaroni was pretty great!
Absolutely wonderful - amazing in every aspect.
Great service, our reservation was well in-order, excellent cocktails and an awesome seafood menu. The oysters were abundant in variety and delightful. Nice wine list, and we lucked out on snagging one of the few parking spots on the front lot, but street parking is available around the area. Highly recommend!
Oysters and wine what more can you ask for.
Relaxed atmosphere and it was a beautiful table outside and stayed busy until closing. A little pricey, but honestly for the experience it was alright with me.
The oysters were exceptional.
Our waitress gave the best recommendations as we didn't know the best ones to pick. My bf and I had a lot of fun sampling each oyster at a time and comparing them. The ones from Canada were our favorite! The service was definitely a 5/5, from our waitress to our server to the hostess.I knocked a star because you are so close to the table next to you that you can smell their fart. It was quite distracting sitting next to louder tables as my bf and I are on the more soft spoken side, but it was fun to overhear their interesting conversations.
This place is so small and cute.
You definitely need a reservation. The oysters were so good. I can't remember what they were called but I got the ones from Washington and they were delicious. We went for happy hour and it was a great deal. We also ordered the mussels, the mac & cheese with crab, the crabcake, and the scallops. Everything was delicious. Let me tell you the steak tartare was phenomenal and a must.

LOVE this place in Austin! This place is usually booked up with reservations but my roommate and I decided to stop in around 2PM as a walk-in and got sat down immediately. I highly recommend this place - it has a cute and intimate vibe, lovely outdoor seating for the summer time, and an overall great ambience.5/5 food! We only had 1/2 a dozen of oysters (forgot which ones!) for an appetizer but they were absolutely delicious. We also got the steak tartare and the grilled octopus. Both had lots of flavor to them and were decent in plate size.5/5 service as well!Having heard about their burger earlier, we would've tried it! Would come back to Clark's again and explore more of their menu and drinks soon.
